We loved the history and the ambiance of the cottage. It was really a home away from home. We slept well and felt lucky to have had the chance to stay in such a wonderful piece of history. We would only change two things: 1 . have a shower curtain around the bath to protect the beautiful floor from water. It means it can be used for showers for those who struggle with baths. 2. A microwave oven would be a welcome addition to the kitchen. We loved our time in the Pigeon House. We'd gladly return to it and wonderful Lewes!...

The Pigeon House is just as beautiful in real as it is in the pictures. What a beautifully renovated cottage! Equipped with everything you could need. Heats up quickly when necessary, and is very clean. It would be great if the garden could be used. But for now, luckily, the Southover Grange Gardens are nearby. What a beautiful place to relax! Lewes has of course everything a tourist could wish for. Interesting places nearby: we recommend Monks House and Charleston Farmhouse. And if you go to the Seven Sisters cliffs, do visit Alfriston along the way. We highly recommend the Pigeon House, but keep a few things in mind: narrow Potters lane turns out to be a busy little street with quite a bit of traffic and passersby. And there is no free parking. Although the RingGo app works smoothly, do not forget to pay before 8 a.m. (We paid an hour late on our last day and had a parking fine.) The ‘snug’ is only “snug” in the evening, because it is on the landing and quite dark. The chairs in the kitchen are not very comfortable to sit on, so bring some cushions with you. (After a few days you will miss a good sofa or armchair) But we had a lovely stay: so definitely recommended!...

What a wonderfully charming place to stay in the busy heart of historic Lewes with so much to explore! As there isn't a garden with the cottage the Southover Grange Gardens you discovered nearby sounds an ideal peaceful spot to take a break or have picnic. The Pigeon House has been furnished in character with the age of the cottage with all space being used to the optimum to make a cosy place to unwind.
