Nearby beach

A long four mile shingle beach with no sand in sight, so whilst you won't be building sandcastles you can enjoy clear waters and great views towards Beachy Head and the Seven Sisters. You'll find a good number of cafes close by and a cycle path which runs along the back of the beach. Parking is usually available on nearby side roads. Volunteer lifeguards patrol the area during summer months and there is a seasonal dog ban on the central section of the beach only.

Tucked away in the centre of Lewes, Southover Grange Gardens are a delightful haven and perfect for a peaceful wander. Once a private garden built in 1542 by William Newton, they are now open for the public to enjoy.

Nearby town

Enjoy a day out exploring this fine market town with an abundance of independent retailers and visitor attractions. Don't miss Lewes Castle, perched high up on the hillside overlooking town, it's worth the walk for the view. You can also try the townhouse of Anne of Cleaves for some historic fact finding. With bookshops, boutiques and craft shops there's something for everyone and you'll also find lots of tempting cafes and pubs for well deserved refreshments.
