Barrington Court, a Tudor manor owned by the National Trust, is a short drive away.
Montacute House, another National Trust property, is also worth a visit.
Why not hop on the West Somerset Steam Railway that leaves from Bishops Lydeard?
Lyme Regis is a vibrant seaside town with some great choices when it comes to dining and can be reached in under 40 minutes by car.

Probably the most relaxing holiday we have ever taken , quiet and secluded , we would venture out for the day but always end up coming back early because it was so nice , everything was done well and nothing left us thinking we'll if they had done this it would be better it was perfect , we will 100% be back. And Ernie and the gang where lovely and welcoming who knew sheep where so friendly. :-D...

Absolutely wonderful stay at the Whistle with my friend. Cabin was exactly as described (if not better) - the bathroom pictures certainly do not do it justice! - and Nick was very kind in lighting the hot tub fire for us whilst we were in West Bay on one of the days!
