Montacute House, another National Trust property, is also worth a visit.
Why not hop on the West Somerset Steam Railway that leaves from Bishops Lydeard?

My partner and I booked The Whistle for a relaxing two-night break, and it was absolutely amazing. It was very easy to find, and Nick had kindly pre-heated the hot tub for our arrival, which was a lovely touch. He was extremely friendly and took the time to explain everything clearly. We’ve stayed in a few shepherd’s huts over the years, but this is by far the best one. The pictures really don’t do it justice - it’s absolutely gorgeous. We were also lucky enough to visit during lambing season and see all the newborn lambs, which made the stay even more special. One evening, we walked to the local pub, which was just a short stroll across three fields. We would definitely stay here again and highly recommend it to anyone looking for a peaceful getaway....

We stayed in The Whistle and let me say it was the most beautiful, idyllic Shepards hut we could have stayed in. Everything was beyond our expectations, no detail missed.
