A superb cottage in a great location and incredibly comfortable. The cottage interior is beautifully designed and contains all you need for cooking if you decide to take advantage of the exceptionally comfortable surroundings and stay in for the evening. There is a bbq area with a dramatic view - I could not help but wander out there several times, even in the grip of winter - just for the sensational view. A walk away from Lydford Gorge, which is beautiful. Also easy to walk into Lydford village where there is a pub, church and ruins of Lydford castle. I loved my time at this cottage and the host was so kind and helpful - on hand but they respect your privacy and the barn is set away from their property. Plus, delicious home baked scones waiting on arrival! That was a lovely touch too. Even in stormy weather it was a joy to stay in this beautiful house - perfect for curling up with a glass of wine and cosy meal. I would return to this cottage every weekend if I could. Beautiful property in an excellent location near to Lydford Gorge, with direct access onto the moors for walks and very close to lovely local pub, The Castle Inn. The Granite Way cycle ride from Lydford to Okehampton is accessible from Lydford too. The accommodation was beautiful and very peaceful. The bed was very comfortable and had all we needed for a restful stay. We are planning another visit with a group of friends next year, next time to take Foxtor Barn as well. A lovely modern barn conversion with fantastic views. A good area for sightseeing on Dartmoor and for reaching Okehampton or Tavistock for shopping. We enjoyed the peace and tranquility.
