Excellent place to stay. Out in the country but not far from the nearest town. Local pub served some delicious meals. The barn itself was super. Well equiped kitchen. Reliable WiFi. Home from home

We had a wonderful stay - the cottage was peaceful and well-appointed, and the hosts very welcoming. We would go back!

A superb cottage in a great location and incredibly comfortable. The cottage interior is beautifully designed and contains all you need for cooking if you decide to take advantage of the exceptionally comfortable surroundings and stay in for the evening. There is a bbq area with a dramatic view - I could not help but wander out there several times, even in the grip of winter - just for the sensational view. A walk away from Lydford Gorge, which is beautiful. Also easy to walk into Lydford village where there is a pub, church and ruins of Lydford castle. I loved my time at this cottage and the host was so kind and helpful - on hand but they respect your privacy and the barn is set away from their property. Plus, delicious home baked scones waiting on arrival! That was a lovely touch too. Even in stormy weather it was a joy to stay in this beautiful house - perfect for curling up with a glass of wine and cosy meal. I would return to this cottage every weekend if I could. We had a very enjoyable week in Haretor Barn, which is really comfortable, with a great level of equipment. Our host, Katie, was really welcoming and left a lovely welcome hamper and also supplied us with an extra cafetiere to accommodate the Decaf drinker, (although, to be fair, if you are a fan of Pod machines, you won't need the extra cafetiere). The BBQ area is great well thought out and has fab views to admire while you are cooking and eating! There are walks of various lengths, available from the door and it is an easy stroll to NT Lydford Gorge, (top car park). Beautiful views of the moor and very peaceful. We took the suggestion in the file and visited Widemouth Bay, near Bude and were not disappointed, a great beach, very dog friendly at the Black Rock end. Other highlights were some great walks, in the sunshine, around Meldon Reservoir (we parked at the reservoir car park) and another circular one taking in the Meldon Viaduct , the cycle way near Sourton, with some strenuous climbs out of the valley after descending the steps at the side of the Viaduct, to return to the car park! The Castle Inn, Lydford was lovely, accommodating and friendly. We also visited the Peter Tavy Inn, great food and really lovely staff, the Beef pie was amazing, but very large! Next stop we headed to Burrator Reservoir, for a circular route which was definitely needed to walk off the calories! Shopping in Tavistock is also recommended. All in all, a very comfortable stay, with lots to do & see in the area and we were also lucky with some great weather!...

A lovely property in a beautiful location. Very good contact with hosts and the property was equipped with everything you could possibly want. Will defiantly recommend to friends and family.
