I highly recommend this barn, which is historic but well-renovated and - importantly in winter - warm, thanks to the underfloor heating and option of using the woodburner. The housekeeper and owners were responsive and helpful with a minor problem. The location is excellent for walks to the coast and into Friston forest....

Beautifully furnished house in wonderful environment. I especially loved how nicely, clearly and efficiently the interior space of the barn is used and designed so that all that you need is there in this rather small place. The location of the house is excellent, in a beautiful and peaceful village, near the sea, the Seven Sisters and with woods and nature all over. But also with interesting cultural sites being very nearby (s.a. Charleston). I am so grateful that I could stay in this house together with my dearest dog. ...

This was a lovely spot, wonderful shady walks in Friston Forest just on the doorstep, Homely cosy property with a well equipped kitchen and plenty of info on the appliances, etc. Near to places of interest and good for Charleston Festival. How wonderful to stay in a property owned by Alfred the Great, luckily the plumbing was not Saxon!...

Wonderful accommodation in the peaceful setting of West Dean. Glorious walks with beautiful surrounding views. Equally not far from Alfriston, Lewes and Drusillas! Would highly recommend this location.
