This is the perfect place to stay to explore Dartmoor and the surrounding area in an authentic barn conversion. With direct access onto the moors and views of Sharp Tor you immediately feel connected to the environment. The accommodation is full of character and is very comfortably furnished, well equipped and spotlessly clean. The owners were welcoming and took the time to make us feel at home. We had some typical moors wet and foggy weather but we were warm and cosy inside. All in all a very special place. ...

The Shippon is comfortable. The owners have given a great deal of time and effort to make your visit enjoyable - plenty of suggestions of places to visit, eat and walk. The isolation brings proper 'dark skies' experience. Step out of the front door - fresh air, tors to tempt you to stride out, and the ability to drive to explore further. Even the worst rain, winds and lightening are held at bay by the massively thick walls (we visited in late autumn with all the above plus only a few sunny days). ...

We throughly enjoyed our stay at The Shippon, the views were wonderful with the added bonus of direct access to the moor. The house was well equipped and comfortable, and we appreciated interesting details in the decor and design. Very friendly and helpful host. The Kingsize bed in the main bedroom was excellent: we slept very well! Beautiful setting. We were happy with everything. We enjoyed also the logburner in the evenings. The cottage is in an excellent condition.
