Everything in The Hideaway was great! But the views were beyond expectations, we spent most of our day just watching the sea. For anyone visiting… the bed is comfortable, the shower is spacious and all equipment was exactly what was needed. The owner is really helpful and just next door. The route down was steepish but easy enough in our very ordinary Nissan and parking good. We would thoroughly recommend it here....

Beautiful cottage and stunning location, but the access from Polhawn Fort is a serious concern. Returning to the cottage — especially at night — felt unsafe due to extremely slippery steps, inadequate rope and chain handrails, exposed rebar creating trip hazards, and no lighting at all. Navigating this in the dark with a torch was genuinely risky, and I’m surprised there haven’t been serious accidents. Given the high cost of the stay, it was disappointing to have to risk our safety just to reach the property. Repairs to the steps and proper lighting should be an urgent priority for the safety of future guests....

The path is maintained by the local council, and it appears that the recent storm may have caused some damage and wear. The owners are very sorry that you experienced difficulty and will be monitoring the situation closely. In poor weather, there is an alternative road route that may be easier to navigate. Easy to find although a little tricky to get to down a very steep track. Property was beautiful and exactly as described. Ideal location for attending a wedding at Polhawn Fort.

The setting of the property was stunning and the gardens very beautiful. We thoroughly enjoyed sitting on the terrace and looking out at the sea. The house certainly offers a real sea view. The access to the wedding venue, which we were attending, was not appropriate. It was a real challenge to contend with disintegrating steps and metal posts and tree roots, whilst wearing wedding outfits. We cannot imagine how tricky this route would be on a wet/wintery day. We feel that the property would be perfect for a walking holiday, but does not offer easy accommodation for attending a wedding at Polhawn Fort. ...
