It was a very interesting and educational experience to live on a working organic dairy farm for a week - the abundance of flowers, shrubs, birds and bees demonstrates how working with nature makes such a difference. St Mary Magdalene church (next to the farm) has the same ethos and the church yard is worth a visit. We enjoyed meeting the local people in Wartley and Carolyn at the the farms dairy, where there is a fabulous selection of organic yogurts (would recommend the orange yogurt drink!). We hope to return to Moorhen cottage again as one week is too short.

Great holiday venue

Great property for farm lovers who enjoy a peaceful and private location. Enjoyable to walk out in the evenings to observe the barn owl hunting and the herd of cows in the meadows. Plenty of lovely walks around this organic farm.

Moorhen Cottage is filled with the care of those who planned it. A delight.
