We had the most wonderful stay in The Shute. The house is lovely and feels like a real family home. It is very well equipped, with everything needed for a week or two on holiday with a lovely kitchen diner or outside patio for those evening meals or cheeky glass of wine. The garden is absolutely stunning with far reaching sea views and we both enjoyed watching the evening cruise ships passing by on their way from Southampton. There was a fantastic welcome basket waiting for us and the lovely owners also met us on arrival with a further gift of freshly home baked bread :-) We cannot recommend The Shute enough. ...

The Shute is a beautiful cottage in a peaceful location with stunning views over the cliffs. We loved the large garden ( complete with climbing frame and slide and lots of garden chairs) and the patio for alfresco dining ( large BBQ included) The house was quirky with lots of little steps into rooms, it was well equipped and had everything we could possibly need. The owners welcomed us warmly and we appreciated the groceries especially the home made and still warm bread. Would definitely recommend and hope to stay again soon....

The house is lovely, it does not feel like a holiday rental but a real home from home. It has everything you could need and is very tastefully decorated throughout. The owners are next door and welcomed us very warmly when we arrived, but did not at any point intrude on our privacy. There was fresh eggs, butter and milk in the fridge for us, in addition to some freshly baked bread and a basket with lots of lovely island produce. It was also so nice to have things provided like toilet rolls, kitchen roll, tin foil, cling film, washing up liquid, dishwasher tablets, clothes detergent, washing up sponges and clothes and an apron and an ample supply of tea towels, as well as nice shower gels and handwashes in all the bathrooms. We loved the property, the gardens were beautiful and the views were stunning, it was relaxing even just sitting on the patio, definitely somewhere we would like to return to. ...

The Shute is in an outstanding location for peace and quiet with stunning sea views in the village of St Lawrence. It really is a location to savour. The village itself doesn't seem to have any facilities but Ventnor is a short drive away and we walked to the Botanic gardens and Steephill Cove one day (although this might not suit everyone). After each lovely day out exploring the beautiful island it was great to come "home" and sit on the terrace or in the sun room and relax with those views before cooking a nice meal in the sociable kitchen. The beds were comfortable, the showers hot and there was a basket with lots of nice treats from the owners for our enjoyment. A great few days!...
