The friendly owners are happy to advise where the best riverside spots are for the chance to see an otter or a kingfisher.
The owners' rare breed cattle are nearby - just look at the gorgeous calf!
This traditional smallholding has earned conservation awards from Natural England and offers a wonderful opportunity to feel part of a sustainable and environmentally friendly way of living.
Wow! The wonderful setting of Hatherland Mill Farm - Swallow's Nest is the grey roof in front of the tree, near the middle of the farmstead.
The Exmoor National Park is well worth a visit. This is taken from Hadden Hill overlooking Wimbleball Lake.
Exmoor is a wonderful mixture of open moorland, deep valleys and tumbling rivers. Dulverton and Withypool are two lovely places with riverside walks and picnic spots.
You can be at the east Devon Jurassic coast in just under an hour. This is Sidmouth.

My stay here was brilliant. I was staying on my own with my dog. I felt safe, rested and the hosts are really great, not intrusive. The freezer is big enough for ice cream and there was everything that I needed. Take slippers to wear on the cobbled floor and the steps to the bedroom are very steep, but I just came down slowly! This is a real working farm and I loved the mixture of comfort and reality. Good TV freeview . For wild swimmers this is a stunning place. The river is a short stroll and it is deep, clear and amazing. I watched the kingfishers going into their nest from the water. The sandmartins and swallows drank water around me. I did not leave the farm for 4 days as I was busy painting, drawing and swimming. The best phone reception and wifi was sitting on the bench at the river! Simply perfect. We had such a magical time in Swallows Nest. The grounds are truly amazing, the river is less than a 30 second walk. We sat there watching the wildlife, kingfishers and even a Firecrest!! We also spent time swimming most days. The farm is lovely, the sheep and cows are very cute and friendly. It was simply magical. The bath was fabulous, and the property feels very private. It was honestly such a wonderful place to stay. Sadly we had to leave early due to an emergency, really do want to go back again. Don’t hesitate and simply book up Swallows nest it’s such a magical place. ...

The accommodation is beautiful, spotlessly clean, warm and comfortable. Absolutely everything is provided. Walks around are plentiful and so nice to visit the cattle in the barn. Particularly happy that we could take our two collies. There over Christmas and arrived to find our lovely hosts had left mince pies in the fridge and a real and decorated Christmas tree in the lounge along with a Christmas wreath on the door. Wonderful....
