Beautiful location and all the rooms in the lodge very comfortable and a pleasure to spend time in.

We stayed in the Orangery cottage last week of October and the cottage lived up all our expectations. The location is fantastic, views over Plymouth sound are gorgeous and walks in the park are very pleasant. The cottage is well decorated, clean, comfortable and quite spacious. The roof terrace is small but it’s enough space for two and if weather is right, it provides a nice opportunity for breakfast or lunch. Moreover there is a coffee shop a couple of steps away from the cottage which offers nice breakfast, lunch or just coffee break between walks. Overall we enjoyed our stay at the Orangery cottage.

The Orangery Lodge is an incredible little property - cosy & welcoming, with all of the features you need for a relaxing time away. The grounds of Mount Edgcumbe are stunning, whilst the Orangery Cafe has fantastic food & is an amazing venue. Best of all, it is just a 5 minute ferry over to Plymouth!

We're delighted that you had such a lovely stay here. Mount Edgcumbe is beautiful with gorgeous formal gardens and so many walks. Besides the ferry to Plymouth we hope you took advantage of the wonderful walk to Kingsands and Cawsands along the old coaching track. Donna, Customer Support

This is such a lovely place to stay, we were fortunate to have a fabulous week of gorgeous weather so got to sit out every afternoon and evening on the raised platform on the patio and watch the boats go by with some glasses of wine. The estate itself is well maintained and some lovely gardens to walk around or simply relax. Having the ferry on your doorstep is a help to walk over to Plymouth and enjoy several place of interest, boat trips, eateries, walks and Royal William shops.

Orangery Lodge is in a stunning location with plenty of good walks on the doorstep. It is a very cosy place and always felt good to come back to after a day out. Mount Edgecumbe house is well worth a visit. The Edgecumbe Arms is about 100 yards away but you don't hear any noise from there. The staff are great and the food is excellent and very reasonable. The ferry to Plymouth is next to the pub. Watching the activities on the water outside the sitting room window or from the terrace was very interesting, from a frigate to the fireworks contest, you never knew what would come by next. We will be back!

Orangery Lodge has everything you could possibly need for a stay. Kitchen is lovely and new. Bathroom is beautiful. All the decor is very lovely and matches the building. The grounds are breathtaking and always something to see sailing past the lounge window. Recommend this lodge very highly.

The cottage is lovely in a brilliant position. There are one or two small things that could be tweaked to improve things to excellent, the sofa is not the most comfortable. The TV service is poor.

A unique position overlooking the busy Hamoaze of Plymouth. Always something to watch: fishing boats, warships and others enjoying the water. Catch the ferry to the Royal William Yard opposite for a selection of restaurants.

Orangery Lodge is in an unbeatable location for lovers of walking and peace and quiet. The Lodge is very old and this is reflected in the style in which it is furnished although the kitchen and bathroom are modern and well finished. Views from the terrace are superb and transport links such as the Plymouth ferry and buses are right outside the lodge so we had no need of the car all week.

Fantastic location, cosy and well equipped. Highly recommended.

This is a beautifully quirky little cottage in the most perfect location. With sea on one side, formal gardens on another and situated on the edge of the country park the opportunity for lovely walks is endless. Bus and ferry to Plymouth are 100yards away on a quiet quay. The lodge is very clean and comfortable, the bed especially so, and any questions were answered immediately.

Perfect location with great walking from the front door. Edgecombe Park is beautiful with plenty to do. Highly recommended.

Orangery lodge was in an excellent position right on the waterfront. It was a very cosy place to spend a week in wintertime. The pub was five minutes walk away. The food was very good if a little overpriced. The estate was a wonderful place to stay with The Orangery cafe just behind the lodge and The Farriers cafe in the park. We didn’t use the outside space as it was too cold but imagine it would be wonderful to sit there watching the world go by in warmer seasons. The park itself was a delight with so many different paths to take. We would recommend walking the coast path to Kingsand where a lovely lunch can be found at The Halfway Inn. We also enjoyed a trip on the ferry across to Plymouth. The highlight of our trip was a coastal walk from Freathy to Portwrinkle. Whitsand bay was glorious.

As good as everyone says.

It feels such a privilege to be staying at Mount Edgcumbe - and to have access to the formal gardens after everyone else has gone home. It is a VERY special precious place to visit.

We had an extremely relaxing stay in the beautiful surroundings which are so convenient for the ferry to Plymouth. Thank you!

This is such a fantastic location with the river to one side of the cottage which gave us lovely views day or night and to sit on the viewing platform watching the boats go by or the sunsets with of course a glass of wine or two!! The expanse of the lovely garden and grounds of the estate is such a frill especially when the gates get locked at night and you have the whole place to yourself it makes you feel it’s your own personal large back garden.

On booking the lodge we asked for early/ late check out due to having our wedding while staying at the lodge but was rejected due to housekeeping timings. We then arrived the day before our wedding to find the lodge hadn’t be attended by housekeeping as the bed hadn’t been made, there was no towels or toilet roll and it wasn’t the cleanest. We tried to contact the housekeeper on the number provided but couldn’t get through so had to contact the head office. This was eventually dealt with, each party blaming the other for the mistake. The property has a great location especially if you are having or attending a wedding on the Mount Edgecumbe estate. The small roof terrace is lovely for morning and evening drinks. The property has an issue with bugs (spiders mostly) which borders a infestation. I understand it is an older property but this issue is very significant and did effect our stay at the property. The mattress in the bedroom was really poor as it felt more like a mattress topper than an actual mattress. One of us ended up sleeping on the sofa as this was considerably more comfortable.

Thank you for your review for Orangery Lodge. We are so glad that the housekeepers were able to quickly address the concerns that you raised on arrival and were there within half an hour but understand this was disappointing for you. They always try to accommodate a late check out request where possible and are sorry that they were unable to do so for you on this occasion. We do find that mattress comfort is very personal and it is hard to match everyone's preference but will look into this and monitor future feedback. We hope to welcome you to another Classic Cottage in the future. Sarah, Customer Support

Cottage is beautiful and the surroundings are exceptional. Worth every penny for a very relaxing holiday. Thank you!

Lovely property with good facilities. Dog leg stairs to bedroom more or less two flights.

Be aware bathroom downstairs if you have to get up in the night. Edgcumbe is wonderful.

This quirky property is in a fabulous spot, and the balcony is perfectly placed for watching the wildlife and boating activity on the estuary. We didn't use the car once we arrived as there are many walks around the grounds and beyond, plus a bus and ferry service on the doorstep. It is a real treat to wander in the gardens during the evening when there are very few people around. The Orangery cafe is right behind the property and serves fantastic breakfasts; for a treat they do a wonderful high tea.

A unique location and a charming lodge in wonderful surroundings.

Orangery Lodge is 'different' and unspoiled. Everything needed is there - 'it's what it says on the tin'. Property is in a prime position and there's a lovely VERY private deck where one can sit & watch the estuary activity day or night - fascinating. There's so much to do, one can say goodbye to the car as accessibility to other places by bus or ferry are very reliable and feet can take you anywhere! Lots to explore, walking for miles coast or countryside, or wander gently in the gardens or Estate, everything that anyone could wish for, for a relaxed, peaceful break.

A wonderful place! Peaceful and relaxing. Perfect for a relaxing holiday but well positioned if you fancy an active, cultural stay. We loved it and will return!

Excellent place to stay. Walks straight from the front door. Lovely raised deck with wonderful views. Minutes away from the ferries to Plymouth and The Royal William Yard . Bus stop minutes away. We took the bus to Cawsand and walked back through the park. Wonderful food at the nearby Orangery which you can carry out and eat at Orangery Lodge on the raised deck. We will be returning.

Loved the quirkiness of the lodge, beautiful location lovely views from the decking. An absolute gem and a pleasure to stay there.

Superb location in Mt Edgcumbe Country Park. The viewing platform in the back yard overlooking the river is a brilliant way of using the limited amount of outside space. You do have to be quite agile to use it as the steps are quite steep. It's a perfect spot for a morning coffee, an afternoon cup of tea or a lunchtime gin and tonic.

The position and outlook were superb. The ferry to Plymouth, a regular bus service, coast path outside the door and a pub nearby meant that we didn't have to use our car.

We loved our stay here so much. It is a charming house in a lovely and peaceful country park (that you can enjoy all to yourself once the visitors have left for the day). Great transport links (foot ferry and bus nearby), scenic walks, lovely cafe next door, a traditional pub a short walk away which does great food. We are already looking at suitable dates to return!

Will be returning to this lovely cottage in its unique surroundings

We loved the situation of the Orangery Lodge, there are not many place anyone could stay where cows can be seen grazing in fields, war ships passing by the sitting room window and a tea room set in a formal garden twenty pace from the front door and to top it all it was right on the South West Coast Path. A wonderful place to stay.

A property full of charm in unique, beautiful surroundings. Very warm and comfortable, a joy to stay in. With safe parking right outside one can hide the car keys and just enjoy the park (almost all to yourself when the visitors have departed), it's beaches or just potter across the way and take the ferry to Plymouth attractions. Icecream, coffee, cream tea, lunch - all to hand next door in the Orangery all of which can be enjoyed inside or out in the formal garden.

This was a charming property in the lovely setting of parkland. It has unexpectedly good public transport links with Plymouth and nearby Cornish villages. Set right on the edge of the Tamar as it meets the sea the water also provides an endlessly changing vista from the sitting room.

lovely location BUT the description 'Occasionally The Orangery restaurant is used for weddings, and you may hear the drift of music and laughter (please check with the Sales team if you wish to come when no weddings are planned)' was somewhat wide of the mark, it was far louder than a drift. Ideal if you are a guest at a wedding as right next door and noise would not be an issue.

Great location as a base for the perfect break. The Orangery is a character property with all the features you could want, including a lovely little seaside balcony.

Liked the raised platform in the yard. Waterside location. Easy access to Cremyll ferry and Royal William Yard ferry. Good parking spot by cottage.

Well worth a visit to Orangery Lodge, the cottage and the location is very good, with lots of nice walks right outside your door

A lovely cottage in wonderful grounds a good base for exploring the Rame penisular and a trip to Devon by ferry.

wonderful location and beautiful lodge good value for the money. If you are walkers there are some amazing walks. park and grounds are well worth a visit also a lovely cafe on the grounds. Ferry and pub close by.

A delightful cottage in peaceful beautiful surroundings. Just what a get away should feel like. Loved it.

Great location, lovely gardens. Great for dogs

Orangery Lodge exceeded our expectations for a one bedroom cottage. It was spotlessly clean and nicely furnished though lacked a few homely touches like cushions on the sofa, probably due to Coronavirus rules. Mount Edgecumbe Estate is so beautiful, plenty of walks and so much to see. The Orangery Restaurant, 50 yards away did the best English breakfast we have ever had and the staff are so friendly. What a pity it isn't open until early evening so you could have dinner there. All in all a great place to stay and we will definitely be back!

It should be pointed out that there is a constant steady stream of people passing by your front windows and door all day

Thanks so much for taking the time to leave a comment. The Lodge is on the edge of the park, and near the entrance from the Cremyll Ferry, so there will be footfall in the area during the hours that the park is open. Details on opening times and any special events taking place in the grounds can be found at www.mountedgcumbe.gov.uk/. Tanya, Customer Support

This is our 5th time staying at Mount Edgcumbe, we normally stay in Cremyll Lodge. Thought we would try Orangery Lodge for a change. Out of the two we prefer Cremyll Lodge slightly, it’s swings and roundabouts, the parking is a lot better at the Orangery , Cremyll you have to park in the car park up the road as the drive way is almost impossible. The garden is a lot better in Cremyll and suits our dog so much better, the raised platform in the Orangery is ok , does have lovely views. The court yard could definitely do with improvements. The upstairs in the Orangery is better than Cremyll, but prefer the downstairs in Cremyll. We absolutely love Mount Edgcumbe, the location is brilliant and so dog friendly.

Such lovely accommodation for 2 in a fantastic setting. Within the orangery grounds and right on the waterfront. Pub and shale beach less than 100 metres away. We had our dog with us and we all enjoyed the walks on the estate and to Rame peninsular. We look forward to returning in the future.

Great position in a lovely park with lots of walks from the door. Has a great garden platform that has fantastic views across to the Royal William Yard. Lots to see if you love boats and wildlife. Close to the Cremyll ferry.

We had an excellent holiday in what were difficult circumstances. The cottage is lovely, the views from the lounge window and the viewing platform are excellent. The Orangery Cafe was open so we had several tasty meals that we were able to take back to the cottage. Early morning and late evening walks through the historic gardens are quiet and peaceful because the gates to that area are still locked. It feels as though it is your private property. We will be back when normality returns.

A fantastic retreat with lots of great walks and easy access to Plymouth. The cottage itself has everything you need for a nice relaxing break. The balcony on the back of the property is a great addition. It was just a shame we were unable to make the most of it as the weather in late October, early November was not kind to us (but hey we never expected it to be!!??). We hope to return in the summer to take advantage of this great space.

A wonderful and comfortable cottage set in an outstanding location. You have the best of both worlds the incredible country park to walk and explore with its amenities and the waterfront where you can see the ships, boats and historic Plymouth. The ferry to Plymouth and its attractions are within a short walk. The park and cottage were so lovely we hardly left it for the whole week. Our dog was in her element.

Fantastic location, beautiful property, wonderful views and very dog friendly! It was a pleasure to just open the front door and have so many walking opportunities! We can’t wait to re-book for next year!

The high level deck gives stunning views.
