The sitting-room has a wood-burning stove and deep comfy sofas to curl up on.
Two sets of doors open onto this wide paved terrace and the fully enclosed garden. The post and rail fencing also has rabbit proof wire and so is as secure as is reasonably possible.
The kitchen/dining-room is really spacious, with the front door opening to the farmstead.
The two and a half acre arboretum is the most beautiful and peaceful place to explore, sit with a book or have a picnic lunch.
Stairs lead from the sitting-room to the first floor of the cottage. There is also a door directly out onto the patio.
The kitchen is a delightful sociable space to cook in, with the farmhouse table in the other half of the room.
The sparkling worktop will inspire you to cook, but there is also a footpath through woodland directly to the friendly local pub.

The main bedroom has a king-size bed and its own en suite shower-room. High ceilings and a large window make this room lovely and light and airy.
You can sit in bed with your morning cup of tea and look out over the meadow. You are quite likely to see deer grazing in the evening or early in the morning.
The two bedrooms are at opposite ends of the corridor.
This is the en suite shower-room for the master bedroom. The wonderful shower has a rainfall shower head as well as a conventional one.
The second bedroom has views out over the 2.5 acre arboretum which is filled with unique tree species.
The bathroom next to the twin bedroom has a bath as well as a fitted shower.
The second bedroom set up as a super-king bed.
What a fabulous countryside setting these friendly neighbours have to roam and enjoy.
The garden is fenced to reassure parents with young children and guests who wish to bring their dog with them.

This is a beautiful cottage in a peaceful location, yet easily accessible from the motorway. There are so many places to visit and things to do in the area; National Trust properties at Killerton and Knightshayes, the Donkey Sanctuary at Sidmouth, the lovely city of Exeter, and Budleigh Salterton to name just a few. Crab Apple cottage is such a lovely place to return to; it's so comfortable and well equipped. The arboretum is a special place at any time of year but particularly in the spring when the blossom is on the trees. The dawn chorus is joyous and if you sit quietly you may see the deer passing through. Lucy and Ian are really welcoming yet unobtrusive hosts; the welcome pack is generous and includes delicious crab apple jelly made in the farmhouse. We hope to return before too long for our eighth visit!...

We had a lovely week staying in Crab Apple Cottage. Lucy & Ian were very friendly & welcoming, being on hand should any issues arise but not intrusive. The Cottage was very comfortable & well equipped, & it was lovely sitting in the private back garden when the sun was out. It's in a good location for visiting various places in Devon & we would definitely recommend Crab Apple Cottage as place to stay....

We had a wonderful stay at Crab Apple Cottage. From the moment we arrived, everything felt welcoming, comfortable, and thoughtfully prepared. The cottage was spotlessly clean, beautifully decorated, and fully equipped with everything we needed for a relaxing break. The location was perfect — peaceful and scenic, yet close enough to explore the surrounding area easily. Lucy and Ian are the perfect hosts and the cottage is lovely with everything you need supplied. We have stayed on several occasions and no doubt we will be staying again. Our dog absolutely loves the garden and it is very safe and enclosed so that there is no worry of him escaping We would recommend this cottage for its location and lovely owners and the cottage itself for its first class facilities....
