Very comfortable charming cottage. Convenient for the Jubille Pool and many cafes.

The Chocolate House was perfect-it was quaint but provided us with everything we needed being very well equipped. It was ideally located in the town giving easy access to the shops and bus station. Penzance provides everything we needed with 3 large supermarkets just up the road from the center of town. And If you like a pub then amazingly you have two near enough on your doorstep! We preferred the Turks Head over the Admiral Benbow. Food was good and staff very attentive. Surprisingly the street was very quiet even with the 2 pubs. The off street parking was a real bonus. We used Penzance as our base to walk parts of the South West coastal path - the network of buses to get you out and about was excellent. One of the highlights of our stay was walking out to St Michael's Mount on the causeway as the tide was receding.

This is the perfect holiday cottage. It's so pretty and so calm and also well equipped. It has a central location in Penzance and a really handy parking spot.

Utterly relaxing stay in The Chocolate House - so easy to walk to the harbour, shops, pubs and galleries. Comfy cottage with excellent shower and handy en suite loo upstairs to save having to tackle the steep steps in the night! Sparkling clean and warm. Thanks for a fabulous break

Thank you for your glowing review. The steep stairs are typical of this type of 18th Century cottage and we agree that it is really handy to have an ensuite loo near to the bedroom for those night time trips. We are so pleased you had a wonderful holiday. Sarah R, Customer Support

We had a wonderful stay at the Chocolate House. It’s in a great location, close all amenities and private parking was an added bonus. There was every creature comfort you need and the kitchen was especially well stocked with utensils and white goods. We would definitely stay again

Excellent location in a very pleasant property. Thank you for a very enjoyable stay.

What a beautiful cottage, great location, has everything you could need and a real home from home.

This is a lovely cottage with a superb location near the sea. It has all the amenities available for self-catering. Lovely for romantic getaways.

Really cannot fault anything about the cottage with excellent directions for arrival. Public transport brilliant and short walk to shops, bus and rail stations. Parked the car on arrival and didn't use it until departure. The tourist information centre were very helpful and knowledgeable

We had a very enjoyable stay. Overall a lovely cottage in the centre of Penzance and with an allocated parking space. The Penzance trail is worth doing.

Lovely stay in the chocolate house .It was nice to see the history book of the cottage. There would beplenty of room for 2 people to stay, ample room for myself. The whole week in the chocolate house was fantastic infarct really didn't want to leave .

A comfortable cottage in the old town, close to shops, restaurants, pubs, the pool, the art galleries and the harbour. Off road car parking space. Everything provided that you could think of. Helpful housekeeper too. Stayed here twice..so far.

Stayed here before, and will stay again

We have experienced staying in many cottages and different areas of Cornwall and think it important to clarify the need for parking facilities. In particular for those who may be elderly or have some mobility problems the ease or otherwise of access to a property needs to be accurately described on the website.

Had a lovely week in this cottage, everything you need, home from home.

I would say that this cottage is the most photographed property in Penzance, people always stopping to photograph, we even had people stop us and ask about the property when leaving the property.

We had an excellent break in this historic cottage, we would highly recommend it.

David & Joanne.

A brilliant cottage for a winter break in Penzance, ideally located for all attractions of the town including a good variety pubs and restaurants. A dedicated off road parking place in a near by private car park was a real bonus. The spacious, well laid out, warm and comfortable living space with its well equipped kitchen, good wi-fi and up to date Smart TV with Netflix etc (remember to bring you passwords) was great to return to after a winter walk along the coast.

Our first time using Classic Cottages. The Chocolate House was lovely.

I'm from Penzance originally though have not returned for many years. The house is near the lower part of Chapel Street and quiet, yet within easy walking of shops, buses and the seafront. We didn't have a car and found the buses worked well, taking trips to St Just, St Buryan and Mousehole for long South West Coast path walks and warm pub lunches!

Being at the end of November we needn't have worried about warmth. The house was cosy and well equipped with everything we needed.

Although we didn't meet, the housekeeper, Mrs Scannell, was very helpful via text.

We wouldn't hesitate to stay here again.

What an absolutely beautiful and well equipped holiday home! There wasn't anything that hadn't been thought of. Beautifully kept property and so close to everything. Just loved the little touches like having tea milk and biscuits on arrival and was good to have a contact number for questions too. Housekeeper Tash is lovely and answered all my questions rapidly. We had the best Staycation and we will absolutely be booking again. Love love loved it. Big thank you to the owners for allowing us to have use of this awesome home. The only downside to the holiday home was having to leave it!

Cozy cottage in a great location, a real home from home.

This is a beautiful cottage in an excellent location. Having off-street parking very useful.

Finally got to see inside this charming cottage. It is far better than we imagined, retaining the historical character of the building, cosy and rustic. Mixed with luxury of a well equipped modern kitchen, and a bright and roomy bathroom. Location is brilliant for the town centre and the beautiful Penzance prom. In chapel Street surrounded by historical buildings bars and restaurants, its no wonder all the tourists cant pass the chocolate house without taking a photograph of the cottage.

I would really recommend The Chocolate House to anyone who wants a relaxing break in a characterful place in the middle of Penzance.

Great location, very comfortable cottage with bags of character and history. Super for a couple wanting to explore West Cornwall. Car parking a massive plus. Support from house keeper (Tasha) was exceptional. Would definitely stay at the Chocolate House again.

A delightful 2 story cottage in walking distance of everything in Penzance. Located on a wonderful street filled with history and popular drinking & dining spots. The Chocolate House is well equipped with everything one needs right down to a washing machine! The bed was wonderfully comfortable with the finest linen a sash window view with wooden blinds. The sky lights in the kitchen and bathroom are an added bonus allowing light to bing the place to life. We could have happily stayed another week and felt nostalgic on leaving. Thank you, we shall be back as there is still so much to explore.

On a cold windy day it was so welcoming to enter The Chocolate House - it was cozy and warm right from the start. Parking is very near, easy to access and we were able to park in front of the house to load up before we left. The house has real character, is well equipped and is real pleasure to stay in. Its position in Chapel street is great for all aspects of a visit to Penzance and the local area. And a bonus for November, the wind died down and the sun shone.

Lovely cottage in ideal location to explore Cornwall, lots of pubs restaurants and shops Nearby. Would recommend

Cottage very well presented and equipped. Great location. The owners have made a great job of using the space well and producing as much light as possible in this historic cottage.

We had a great holiday at The Chocolate House. The house was spotless when we arrived. Although we didn't use the house for cooking, the kitchen had all the facilities needed and the shower was excellent. We used the house as a base to explore surrounding area and it was everything we wanted and expected.

Really enjoyed our stay there. It was good being in a central location ,near to shops and the Bus station. Although central it was quiet and peaceful. It was compact but fine for 2 people. The extra room next to the main bedroom proved useful for ones clothes etc

Good having a House Keeper who could be contacted if necessary, we did speak to her and she was very helpful. Excellent shower and bathroom ,plus the kitchen ,both had very efficient modern appliances. Wonderful break ,getting away from constant Covid pressure.

Charming cottage and good to have what was effectively a second bedroom upstairs to keep our clothes in. Excellent location, great kitchen and a superb shower. Also great to have a safe concealed parking space.

Excellent location near to restaurants/town centre. Would recommend.

An extremely comfortable cottage in central Penzance. It is within walking distance of several interesting galleries, shops and cafes and two cinemas: the Savoy in Penzance and the Newlyn Filmhouse (which boasts a great restaurant).

One of the nicest places we've ever stayed, great cottage, fabulous location, helpful housekeeper, and equipped with everything you would need. Fantastic!

nice cottage, good location, but poor cleanliness of bathroom with mouldy walls and ceiling when we arrived

Reply from Classic Cottages

We're so sorry to hear that the bathroom wasn't as sparkling as it usually would have been for your arrival. Thanks so much for letting us know so that the housekeeper can give it an extra thorough clean. It's great to hear that despite this you liked the cottage and had a good stay overall. Lovely cottage! Perfect in every respect.

This is a lovely cottage - quiet, comfortable and most conveniently located.

We were thrilled to be able to stay in The Chocolate House, we had seen it on previous visits to Penzance and it more than lived up to our expectations. Everything is of the highest quality and we have rarely stayed in such a well thought out and equipped cottage. Hated having to leave! The stairs could be a problem for some people but the sheer quirkiness of the property makes up for them.
The location is ideal, very central but we found the house exceptionally quiet. The snug, roof terrace and harbour views were a bonus. Lovely bathroom and kitchen. We would happily recommend it to others, as long as they do not have mobility problems.

A lovely, well-equipped cottage that is beautifully appointed and decorated.

Just keep it up!
