Well appointed and comfortable cottage. Well located to access local attractions.

Tolpuddle Cottage is located in a pretty village with excellent access and within a 30 minutes drive of most attractions, towns and villages. The photos and description of the cottage are generally accurate but me mindful the stairs are steep and winding. A very generous welcome box was left for us, which was much appreciated with a jar of biscuits for the dogs. The kitchen is has decent work top space, is well equipped and plenty of crockery, cutlery and glassware. The sitting area is comfortable, light but cosy. Attention has been given to the furnishings to give it a home from home feel. It was great to have off road parking. Although a modern terrace, we did not hear any noise from the neighbours. I have made detailed comment in the feedback form, but the duvets and pillows are in very poor condition; this does need addressing for future guests' comfort. We had very mild nights in September and unfortunately we did not sleep well under 10.5 tog duvets. Season appropriate duvets would have been much better. Overall we enjoyed our stay and exploring the east side of Dorset. I would return to the cottage if the bedding issues are rectified.

A well located cottage for visiting our favourite places in Dorset. Unfortunately this cottage fell below the usual standard in housekeeping/cleanliness we have always experienced at other "Classic" cottages.

Reply from Classic Cottages

We're sorry that the cleanliness wasn't quite up to standard. Thanks for letting us know so that we can follow this up with the housekeeping team. It's great to hear that the the cottage offered a great base for you and we'd love to welcome you back in the future. Julie, Customer Support

This cottage is in a perfect location for touring most of Dorset; especially the coast. The village is full of beautiful, thatched, picturesque old and modern cottages. The 180 degree staircase was fun to negotiate with large suitcases, but we managed; the Welcome Pack made us feel better! It is adequate for two adult couples, and the off-road parking for two cars is a bonus. We were aware that the cottage was dog-friendly, but we weren't prepared for the doggy smell that greeted us as we arrived. A lot of opening of windows cured the problem. We experienced issues with property maintenance that should have been remedied by the Housekeeper prior to our arrival, but Classic Cottages resolved the problems promptly and courteously. Dorset holiday cottages are always pricey. This particular property's price equated to a BnB our friends had used in Weymouth (no parking), so the cottage did seem value for money.

Lovely quiet cottage in a handy location for attractions amenities and not too far from the coast either

Pretty, comfortable cottage , well situated for visiting surrounding villages and towns.

Great location, well equipped kitchen and well worth a stay for your holiday.

Lovely comfortable cottage in a beautiful area. Great welcome pack.

This is a lovely, warm, comfortable cottage in a really quiet location. Don't be put off by it being roadside - hardly any traffic at all. So much to do nearby and some lovely walks without using the car at all. We would definitely return. It was great to see a holiday cottage with an air source heat pump too. Thank you for a lovely stay.

This is a lovely well equipped, comfortable and tastefully decorated property in an excellent location for accessing the best of Dorset.

We really enjoyed our stay at Tolpuddle Cottage! It was the perfect last minute family getaway after covid cancelled all our previous plans for abroad. The kids enjoyed the games that were available to them and visiting all the wonderful places so easy to get to from the cottage.

Lovely property that is well equipped.

Cottage was nicely decorated and all you might need available in the kitchen. Some cleanliness issues that need to be resolved.

Pretty cottage in a lovely location.

Overall very comfortable.

First booking with Classic Cottages and impressed with their high standards and friendly booking staff. Highly recommend this cottage. Quiet location; you can follow the history of the Tolpuddle Martyrs on an audio trail through the village. Perfectly situated for trips to the Jurassic coast, Milton Abbas, Dorchester. A very welcoming clean thatched cottage with high quality as new furnishings, tastefully decorated, very comfortable beds and soft leather sofas. Fabulous arrival hamper of milk, local beer, wine, biscuits and teas/coffees. Little patio area for morning coffee in the sunshine. Good safe parking space behind the cottage.

We had a wonderful stay at Tolpuddle. The cottage had everything we needed, it was so well equipped and it was spotlessly clean. The beds were lovely and comfortable and the parking was very easy which is a rarity in this area. It’s a fantastic base for getting to a range of lovely beaches and there are great restaurants and shopping options nearby. We have already booked to come back next year!

A lovely property that was clean and well equipped. Car needed for shops and restaurants, as there is nothing in Tolpuddle itself other than residential properties. Many coastal places within an hour (Weymouth, Lyme Regis, Swanage).

A beautiful cottage with a classic style but the luxury of being nearly new, in a stunning rural location.

The cottage was immaculate and comfortable as described on the website. Plenty of parking. A great base for exploring the area. Would definitely return.

The cottage is beautiful, providing us with everything we needed. It's very welcoming, cosy and very comfortable. The location of the cottage was ideal for walks and places to visit.

A great location, as the cottage is so near to many Dorset places we wanted to visit.

We had a cosy time in Dorset, very relaxed and good fun. We followed many of the recommendations, which were really helpful ideas of what to see and do and the cottage exceeded our expectations.

Beautiful cottage in a quiet location. 30-40 minutes drive to nearest beaches. Car essential. Excellent customer service from Classic during our stay.

A nicely decorated property in a convenient location. Lovely spacious bedrooms and plenty of toilets and bathrooms.

A wonderfully furnished cottage that had been very thoroughly cleaned and provided a homely, comfortable base to explore Dorset!

We absolutely loved our holiday in Tolpuddle cottage. It is a beautiful cottage and was well equipped and beautifully furnished. It was totally suitable for me with my 4 older children. The location was perfect for most of the major attractions being within a half hour drive of most. The pub in Puddletown provided the best food for our tastes. The Martyrs Inn was within walking distance and was pleasant enough although the food quality was adequate.

We thought the location of the cottage was excellent. The peace and quiet of a village, but so many places within very easy reach. My granddaughter loved the play area, virtually over the road from the cottage. Highlights of our week. Monkey World, an amazing "rescue" centre for primates, they do a fantastic job. We enjoyed the Swanage to Corfe Castle steam railway. Excellent afternoon tea at Athelhampton House, literally just down the road, can recommend the Dorset Apple cake! We loved Dorchester and Weymouth has an excellent safe beach for children. We did not do all that we had planned,so will have to return and would certainly consider staying at Tolpuddle cottage again.

The cottage certainly offers the best of both worlds with plenty to do in the area but a lovely peaceful retreat to return to in the evenings. We think a second visit is a must, especially for another slice of that famous Dorset Apple Cake! Tanya, Customer Support

Cottage was great (apart from heating); super king bed was nice, location is great, Netflix was available and enjoyed that, it is really quiet there, Dorset is wonderful. Athelhampton discount card was very useful, it is a great place.

The heating isnt a flexible heating system and not really suitable for holiday let where different people have different ideas about how warm a room should be in cold weather.

We're delighted that you enjoyed your holiday in Tolpuddle Cottage and liked the lovely Dorset location. We're really sorry that the cottage took a bit of time to warm up for you - underfloor heating can be a little slower to react but the housekeeper will make sure all is cosy for arrival in future, and guests can adjust the temperature thereafter on the room thermostat. Thanks so much for letting us know. Kari, Customer Support

Lovely quiet cottage in a lovely village. Great pub within walking distance. Lovely comfy bed and beautifully furnished. Lovely soft towels also. Highly recommend. Thought it was a bit expensive though.

The cottage was lovely, very well equipped and modern, a home away from home, a lovely base to explore Dorset. We definitely recommend Tolpuddle cottage for a lovely break away.

This cottage had far more in the way of equipment than any other in which we've stayed. Very well equipped and spotlessly clean
