The Chalet on the Beach

After returning each year for the past 3 years this beach hut is a special place to unwind and relax in a beautiful location. As a solo traveler I enjoy the peace and quiet when needed, but also the town is close-by when you need interaction with other people. The accommodation suits me perfectly and has everything needed to enjoy my stay. I look forward to many more adventures in years to come. We visited the Chalet on the Beach towards the end of March and it exceeded our expectations. Absolutely stunning location straight onto Monmouth Beach with private parking. We left the car on Saturday and didn't use it again until we left! So relaxing sleeping with the sound of the sea, and sitting on the veranda with a drink. I was a bit dubious about the mezzanine bed at first as I get quite claustrophobic, but once you're in it it's super comfy and cosy, like being in a little den. The area on Monmouth beach was really tranquil, but also within easy walking distance of the rest of Lyme Regis where there was loads of things to see and do, and lots of great pubs and restaurants. On a clear night you can see so many stars here due to so little light pollution. We loved having drinks round a beach fire in the evenings and gazing at the stars listening to the waves. The footpath along Monmouth beach towards the main fossil hunting area is directly Infront of the chalet, and we did get a lot of people looking at us and trying to peer in the windows to see what the inside was like, which was the only downside to our stay. In high season I imagine it's almost a constant stream of people walking past so be aware of that. ...

We had a lovely holiday

Worth a visit

Bed should be looked at again. Very claustrophobic up there. Bathroom very smelly even though we left the fan on and door open. Location brilliant. Lots of thoughtful touches but no welcome pack. I feel we paid a premium price (£704.75 for four nights in middle of July) which was more than we should have paid. Classic cottages staff member that rang me was lovely though and I felt she really listened to me. Mezzanine bed very claustrophobic. Had a panic attack after being up there during the first night. We had to vacate to the sofa bed. Sofa bed not comfortable with very thin padding so could feel springs/ webbing through it. As I said, location was absolutely fabulous and no seagulls that end of Lyme Regis either! Shower itself very good and strong flow. There is no hairdryer. I would take bin bags for food waste as there is no bin or liners. Fortunately I took some so that was ok. Lots of good and positive points but a few drawbacks too....
