The Old Post Office has charm, is cozy, and nicely furnished. The bathroom was very new, the kitchen well-equipped, and we slept well in the beds. The TV and WiFi also worked perfectly. What bothered us were the following points: The windows are single-glazed and hard to open. Of course, we know it's an old building, but being on a street corner meant there was no sound insulation. Next to the cottage, there was a construction site that, according to schedule, was working from Monday to Friday. We would have liked to know that beforehand. What really annoyed us, however, were two things concerning cleanliness. The bathroom sink plug was extremely dirty and hadn't been cleaned for a long time. We soaked it in disinfectant and didn't use it anymore. Also, we had to wipe off tomato splashes on the tile backsplash behind the stove. The washing machine smelled very strong, and the rubber seals around the opening were very dirty. Here too, we first did a 90-degree wash with disinfectant. A serious talk with the cleaning company is definitely recommended. Ultimately, one thing really bothered us. When the photos were being taken for the website, it wasn't at all clear to us that another cottage could also be accessed through our cottage. This cottage had a significantly higher turnover of guests and cleaners, which limited our privacy. We wouldn't book this cottage again, but we are really enthusiastic about Cornwall....

The Old Post Office is a traditional character property, and modern windows would not be in keeping with the age and character of the house. Our website also notes that the garden path is shared with the neighbouring cottage. We appreciate your feedback and will review how the property information is presented. We are sorry to hear that you experienced noise, as there is no through traffic in this area we wouldn't have expected this. We have also looked into the works at the neighbouring property and can confirm that they will not continue into 2027. A pretty little cottage with wonderfully quirky details, The Old Post Office was a welcome and cool retreat at the end of each day in this summer's heatwave. We've not been to North Cornwall for over 20 years and had forgotten how beautiful it is. Such a rocky and stunning coastline, with sweet little coves and harbours and wide, sandy beaches. We recommend a trip to Crackington Haven with it's super cafe and swallows nesting in the rocks. Port Isaac, Padstow, Rock, Boscastle and Tintagel Castle are a 'must mooch' and Bedruthan Steps an incredible sight...either to view from the coastal path or walk to after a snack at the cute National Trust cafe (go early, it gets busy). And finally, the 15th Century St Kew Inn nestled in the gorgeous hamlet of St Kew, the perfect place to have a cool drink and a delicious meal at the end of another busy day of meandering the coastline. North Cornwall is a great place to explore, and The Old Post Office is a super little cottage to call 'base' for a week......
