Smugglers Cottage

This was our second time staying at Strugglers Cottage and it really felt like home from home. We already knew what to expect. Everything you need is there. Fully equipped kitchen and we came back with more ideas of things to buy for our own home ?? It is so comfortable. Needless to say we've already booked for next year and if we could just request the same weather that would be great ????...

Smugglers Cottage is really well equipped and furnishings are to a high standard. The area is perfect for walkers and for exploring a little further afield.

I have now stayed at Smugglers Cottage 6 times and have already reserved for 2027, so it's a perfect holiday cottage for me. The property is cosy and handy and rural in flavour and very peaceful and quiet. The parking area is easy to get in and out of (I have a fairly small car but bigger ones should be OK) and you can also park outside the house for unloading or if you struggle with the parking area. Higher Pentire as a situation is always quiet and peaceful in my experience and it's a place I have known since 1998. It is in close proximity to the Loe Pool and Bar and Penrose Estate and all the walks and beauty round there and also the coast to Porthleven or to Gunwalloe is accessible from there too. Perfect for exploring the immediate landscapes or for short trips to other parts of the Lizard or Mounts Bay areas. Its deep in the rural/coastal area but also Helston with all its facilities and supermarkets is only a mile or two. It's the perfect base for walking and exploring this end of Cornwall for soeon on their own, or for couples or small families. I travel 430 miles and its worth it!...

This is our second visit as we loved the cottage first time, We love the location as it is so easy to get to the popular beaches and walks, and just 10 mins to the town. It's a lovely cottage very clean and tidy and very well furnished etc. We love that there are walks for the dogs on the doorstep. There is an enclosed garden too. We took our own throws for the chairs but I notice this time they were provided. ...

This cottage is a mixed bag. When we arrived the floor was very slippery and I skidded multiple times. We also quickly realised that WiFi wasn't working. After letting the housekeeper know (as instructed) we were told there was a fault and hopefully BT would fix it soon. They didn't. We didn't have WiFi for the entire stay. I get that these things happen but there was no effort to check in on us or mitigate this. We were told about the fault on the Saturday we arrived and there was no further contact. We were just left without it. I booked the cottage because of the super fast WiFi so it cost us extra to use our data. The property also had an overwhelming smell of diesel or oil downstairs. And the rug was full of dog hair from previous guests. And the cookware like baking sheets and some cutlery was not washed properly. The cleanliness just wasn't satisfactory. The cottage is a good base for exploring lizard point and wider Cornwall but we didn't feel it was up to standard....
