Sundown is a lovely spacious quiet holiday home with wonderful sea views and a good choice for a multigenerational family holiday. The beach directly below the property is wonderful for rockpooling. Unfortunately the local shop in Downderry has closed so it is a good idea to plan ahead. ...

This was the perfect place to spend time with family and relax. The sea at the end of the garden was spectacular and going to sleep listening to it was truly wonderful. The place was spacious, clean and well equipped. The fridge in the games room stopped working but the housekeeper’s response was rapid and the owners had a new one delivered in a matter of days. The garden furniture and bbq were great and a lot of time was spent out there due to being very lucky with the weather. On the whole couldn’t fault it and would definitely return there! ...

Sundown is certainly about the location although you could only see the sea from the bottom right corner of the back garden, a ten foot high hedge hides the rest of the view of sea. The house was spacious and well equipped. It was nice to have enough seating available in the lounge that matched the number of people that could sleep in the property. Some furniture and furnishings had seen better days. The TV didn’t work like a normal TV (I.e change channels up and down to select what you want) you have to log into all the TV apps (bbc iPlayer, itv x, more 4 and channel 5) Lots of games to play in the games room on a wet day. The large garden was perfect for children or dogs although great care should be taken as the gate to the front of the house and the gate to the steep steps down to the beach did not close and lock properly so is not secure for children or dogs. Large patio area with seating although the umbrella stand was substandard and would not hold up the umbrella in a slight breeze. Note there are no local convenience stores in Downderry or Seaton. Overall, for the price of this house I would rate 7/10. For the price paid you would expect perfection, but with problems detailed above and some issues with cleanliness I wouldn’t give 10/10....

We hope you enjoyed the wonderful view of the sea from the reception rooms at Sundown and some of the bedrooms plus, of course, the balcony. Truly it must be the best way to start the day by looking out to sea from waking in bed! Since your visit, the hedge has been cut back although it still has a substantial depth to make sure of safety with being so close to the edge of the cliff. We're so pleased you appreciated how light, airy and roomy the property is and that is has plenty of good quality furnishings with most of the beds being new. The owners have been gradually replacing the furniture to make sure Sundown maintains its beautiful presentation and sunny seaside appeal. Many guests like to use their own apps on the TV so they can follow up with their favourite programmes when away from home but thank you for the useful information. It was good to see there were lots of ways to be entertained with the well-stocked games room and direct access to the beach from the large garden. We were sorry the gate wasn't shutting fully - we would have loved to have assisted with this during your stay. The owners have decided against providing a parasol as it becomes so damaged by the high winds with being close to the beach. It is a shame that the local shops have closed as they are such a useful hub for the local community. However, there is a farm shop and a Waitrose garage each only four miles away should you need nearby shops. Sundown is an exceptionally large property which can accommodate 12 guests and has an amazing location directly onto the beach. We would love to have helped during your stay so you could have the perfect holiday. Sarah, Customer Support...

The cottage is very spacious, great location. The garden is very large, great for children to run around.
