We have just returned from a one week stay at The Pump House and I can honestly say it is one of the best holidays we've ever had. The cottage itself is beautiful, every detail has been thought of and all the lovely little touches around the cottage made this a true home from home. The kitchen is well equipped with everything you could need and the bed and the sofa's were so comfy, we found it really cosy in the evening. The location is absolutely spot-on, it feels so private tucked away in it's own grounds with lots of parking for the car too. We loved having a coffee outside the french doors in the morning and then having a stroll down the garden to say hello to the sheep, we also saw guinea fowl and spotted a couple of owls in the trees in the evening. We had some lovely walks right from the door - we walked a fair way down the River Parrett trail, for day's out there's plenty to do - Charmouth is only a short drive away (we found an ammonite fossil on the beach too!) and we ventured further afield to Durdle Door and Corfe Castle which only took about 50 mins drive. Thank you Judith and Gordon for such a lovely holiday and thank you for making our border collie Pippa feel so welcome too, the doggie treats and bowl were such a lovely touch (Pippa loved it so much she didn't want to leave and neither did we) I hope we can one day come back again for another stay....

We wanted a week away from everything and the Pump House fits this criteria exactly. Judith was a superb host; my husband mentioned fishing and the next day she had left leaflets and information for him on the doorstep. She also, as has been said in many other reviews, left fresh milk, bacon, eggs, apple juice and fudge in the fridge. When we arrived, the table was laid for tea with a delicious home made chocolate cake that lasted us the whole week and classic fm was playing on the radio. It really is a delightful little house, just perfect for two and fully kitted out for cooking should you want to. So many highlights but do explore Judith's beautiful garden, say hello to her pet sheep and guinea fowl in the field next door and make use of the tennis court. There are several bird feeders in the garden which all the little birds crowd around and one morning as I sat quietly observing I was amazed to see a sparrow hawk swoop in and out of the meadow - only about 10 feet away from me - thankfully he didn't manage to grab a meal. We also were treated to a pair of owls in the meadow in the evening. There is no wifi, which we loved, but if you need it the farm shop down the road has wifi. The local area is fantastic - loads to visit and see if you want to go out and about or else just sit and enjoy the tranquility, with the gentle sound of the church bells across the fields. Very highly recommended, it's an absolute gem....

The Pump House is set back some fifty yards from a very minor road in an oasis of greenery with the local wildlife providing a visual and vocal display every day. The owners are absolutely charming and genuinely caring who share their stunningly beautiful gardens openly with you. As previous reviewers have mentioned, there are numerous appealing and impressive walks starting literally on your doorstep that cater for all levels of walkers. My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed our holiday in the Pump House and would highly recommend a visit. ...
