Fantastic little cottage in a wonderful location, highly recommend!
Mrs Wheeler October 2023
Forge Cottage had a missing ridge tile causing a leak into the double bedroom. The housekeeper did mention it to us upon arrival and that she was trying to sort a roofer to deal with it. However, with all the wet weather, including Storm Ciaron, this leak meant us having to put a bucket by the bed to catch the water. The cottage was unbearably damp, with wet and mouldy windows and the air blow heating was not sufficient to dry out the property from the roof leak. The windows could not be opened to allow air to circulate either. There were only skylights which with the rain, could not be opened either. We ended up leaving early as we could not bare staying there any longer. The housekeeper did her best, but this property should not have been let out to us with the roof leaking into the bedroom where we had to sleep.

We were so sorry to hear of this and we just want to reassure you that this was not an ongoing issue that we had been aware of in order to discuss the impact on your booking before your arrival. Unfortunately, the tile had come down, and being right in the middle of some horrendous weather, roofers were not able to safely repair this straight away. Sadly, with all the wind and rain, the windows could not be opened to air the property at the time either. We have been in touch since to discuss this with you further and offer our apologies, but we would again like to stress that we were so sorry for the very unfortunate timing of this. The owner and we completely appreciate that this was a far from ideal situation, but they have since confirmed that the repair is complete, and the property dried out and back to how guests would expect. Mrs Wood September 2023
Lovely well equipped and spacious cottage in perfect location just 5 mins to beach and a minute to pubs and shop. Parking space is ok even for a largish vehicle. Some issues due ti the age of the building but this would not stop me returning as everything else was so good . No garden which we knew but there was enough space to sit outside at the side of the car .
Mrs Newman June 2023
As older clients we do prefer brochures but know that they are in the past.
Mr Willows May 2023
Had a lovely stay. Not far from the beach. Plenty of country/seaside walks. Lovely.
Mr LAWRIE May 2023
We stayed at the cottage for a long weekend, we had x 2 children and our 3 dogs. The cottage was fantastic, it is in a great location and provided everything we needed.
Mrs Williams April 2023
Have stayed in Crantock before, many times, so we knew Forge Cottage before we booked but didn't know it was available for holidays. Brilliant location as central to village, beach and access to coastal path. Use Crantock as it's near many of our favourite walks. Cottage was very cosy & the best equipped that we have stayed in and we've used lots of rentals. Very near our favourite pub the Albion Inn, which we used for Sunday Lunch and afternoon beers during our two weeks. When we return to Cornwall we would love to stay here again.
Mrs Harrison March 2023

Mrs Peacock March 2022
A beautifully situated cottage but in general needs an urgent update particularly if going in the winter months. Not a smart tv so channel limitation and no dvs for DVD player. If in summer there’s nowhere to sit out or dry beach gear.

Mr Griffiths January 2022
We really enjoyed staying at Forge Cottage. We stayed at the end of January with two dogs. The village / pubs were extremely dog friendly which was a welcome bonus & the beach ensured they exercised themselves - hitting the sand and playing. The lady at the local Londis was informative and welcoming, as was Jo the housekeeper / agent. The church was an added bonus for history lovers - within a beautiful setting and dramatic lighting within, with an amusing story around the back of a criminal who broke free from the stocks and fled to sea, before being tried for his crimes. Both pubs served good food and welcomed dogs. Its definitely on our 'return to' list. Also, I loved listening to the owls in the night - a rare opportunity !
Miss Preston December 2021
The forge cottage is a beautiful period property, well equipped, amazing location, room to park one car right outside the front door. Short walk to the beach, post office and pubs. Would love to stay again. Highly recommend.

Mrs Needham October 2021
Fabulously equipped kitchen everything in the cottage was in good working order, a beautiful little cottage, very close to one of the best beaches in the world,we adored the Cottage I would love to live there permanently.
Mrs Mackie June 2021
The location of this cottage is perfect if you don’t want to drive during your holiday.
Beach, pub and local shop all within easy walking distance from cottage.
Mr Marshall April 2021
We loved this cottage for a short stay with our family of 4 (2 kids of 6yrs). It is very compact but this was no challenge for us as the weather was beautiful and we spent most of our time outside. The cottage is well arranged and feels more spacious than it is, so it was great for a short stay.
The beach is really stunning and it is a great bonus to be at the end of a track which leads directly to the dunes and coast path - no need for long walks on busy roads. The beach is within easy walking distance, especially if you don't mind sliding down sand dunes, and you can quickly get to the less-populated areas of the beach, a definite bonus if you are trying to avoid crowds.
The housekeeper was nearby and super-helpful with any enquiries we had. Definitely recommend.
MRS Wildon September 2020

Mr Gregory December 2016
An excellent property with every amenity within a very, very short walk. An ideal location for any dog owner with Crantock beaches a downhill walk of 5 mins. A very welcoming property with everything there ready for you as you arrive, milk, sugar, tea, coffee and even scones with cornish cream and jam. The owners are lovely and they keep the property impeccably clean and tidy. A really special touch was the Christmas tree, decorated with fairy lights, we were made to feel at home over the festive period. Well done and thank you. We are booking for next year in this property as there is parking for 1 vehicle.

Forge cottage is a cosy, compact well equipped cottage. It is an ideally situated base just 2 minutes walk from the convenience store and local pubs. There is unfortunately no garden to sit out in however just cross the road outside the door and you are on the lane leading to the sand dunes, beach and the coastal path. The owner is pleasant and friendly.

Mr Woodruff May 2014
Great central location 1 minute walk to the 2 village pubs gentle stroll down the beach rd to one of cornwalls finest beaches. Raining outside? Then load up the log burner after a cliff top walk. Complete with home comforts of a dishwasher washing machine 2 showers.
Mrs Laird April 2014
The location is very good for getting to Crantock Beach, however the cottage is a little cramped for four people.

Thanks for your review - the cottage is a conversion of an early 19th Century forge, and as a Listed building it's not possible to alter the internal layout too much. Although it's not huge, it does offer a cosy and attractive hideaway for four - and as you say, it's great for the beach! Tanya, Customer Support
Miss Hand March 2014
The location was excellent, the beach was dog friendly, there was a local shop which was very well stocked, the local pub was excellent, the cottage had lots of character. No garden with this property...and as we had two dogs with us this really should have been made clearer
Reply from Classic Cottages
We're so glad you enjoyed the location and everything the village has to offer. The working origins of the cottage mean that there isn't a garden, but there is a parking space just outside which is unusual for the area. A little table and chairs can be squeezed just to the side of the parking space (see the photograph of the cottage's exterior) but as this is so small, we've chosen not to advertise it. However, with the fantastic sandy and dog-friendly beach just a few minutes walk down the hill, we hope that most guests won't be too disappointed. Tanya, Customer Support
Mrs Snape November 2013
Cottage in perfect position for beach, village and pubs!! Ideal for coastal walks.
Mrs Gardiner October 2013
A lovely cottage in a perfect location. For those who have dogs it can't be beaten. Don't be put off by the lack of garden as the walk to the beach only takes a few minutes. When you get back take the dogs to The Albion which is a really pet friendly place to enjoy a meal and a pint, the bar staff have even got a pot of treats just for the dogs!

Thanks for your feedback - it sounds as though you had a great stay at Forge Cottage. As you say, Crantock beach is only half a mile down the hill, and is a dog-friendly beach year round - I'm sure the dogs loved a run along the sands! We're glad that you all enjoyed your time in Crantock. Tanya, Customer Support
Mr Mills August 2013

A very cosy cottage for the two of us (plus dog) and we really enjoyed being able to walk directly onto the coastal paths and Crantock Beach ... and what a beautiful beach it is! Definitely up to usual high standards of Classic Cottages.
