We loved the calm and peacefulness, and all the birds and wildlife we heard and saw. The stars on a clear night are unbelievable! Our boys enjoyed the games room and playing in the woods. There’s a well hidden tree house for the adventurous! There was always somewhere new to explore with the dog – she wanted to stay so much that I had to carry her to the car when we left! You can easily spend all day exploring, or just enjoying the garden, but when we did venture further afield we had a great walk on the Tarka Trail after a nice lunch at East Yarde café, liked the small shops in Great Torrington, and enjoyed good meals at the friendly pubs in Sheepwash and Shebbear. The owners are very friendly and helpful – it really is the perfect place! ...

Wonderful spacious cottage in a remote location. Don't expect to walk to a local pub but the trade-off is well worth it; lovely woodland walks from your doorstep meant we could get out with the dogs morning and evening with no fuss. The cottage is well furnished and kitted out so you will want for nothing. The garden is fenced off with a gate so you don't have to worry about the dogs :) Lots of options for daytrips as required. Would recommend Yarde Orchard Cafe on the Tarka Trail (close by, managed to walk the dogs early then end at the cafe with a really decent coffee and sausage baguette). Boscastle is worth a drive/visit (had a swim in the harbour when the tide was out - stunning) although would aim to get there early before the masses in season. If you are beachy then Westward Ho Beach has both no-dog and dog-friendly areas with loads of room, parking, cafes, etc. ...

Grenlecotte Cottage is beautiful in a secluded, rural location. It is bright and airy and has everything you need. The garden is spacious and our dog loved it. Though Grasscott Farm felt a bit like a wilderness. And the views of the area from the cottage weren't exactly amazing, just unkempt trees and brambles. And we never got to see any wildlife at all, apart from the birds. And a squirrel. The track is pretty unstable in part so you do need a robust car. And the actual location is quite far from places you may wish to see, unless you don't mind spending 30 minutes or more travelling. And you may need a map to not get lost! I loved going to Dunsland estate. Beautiful there and not too far away. In terms of eating out...not so good. Maybe it was the time of year (we were there the week before the kids broke up) but many pubs weren't serving food and what they did serve, wasn't that great and lacked in variety. Good shop at Shebbear though. ...

Thank you so much for taking the time to share your review. Grascott Farm is most definitely the place to enjoy a splendid rural retreat. The views are of the surrounding woodland and countryside - the wildlife is certainly out there and you may be lucky enough to experience some incredible sightings, if you're in the right place at the right time. You do have travel a short distance to visit the more tourist-focused parts of Devon, but many guests feel that remaining in this haven of tranquility is the preferable option! We're delighted you had a great stay overall. Tanya, Customer Support...
