Very peaceful location. Lots of wildlife and animals to see. There is no light pollution so if you like to look at the stars then it’s absolutely amazing! The cottage is very well equipped but I think the furniture is in need of updating and refreshing. Sam the owner is a really nice guy. There is a games room down the lane but is desperate for an update. There are lovely flowers in the garden and the views all around are lovely. There are nice, peaceful walks in the forest too. ...

A wonderful cottage is a tranquil and beautiful setting. A comfy cottage with a nice conservatory. Over 200 acres of woodland on your doorstep for walking in. An enclosed garden for the dogs, what more could you want.

Lovely cottage in an amazing location. Tranquil, relaxing place away from it all. Night skies so clear. Wildlife abound spotted deer, Jays and regular visit from barn owls. Great walks in all directions around the 200 acres. Great that the cottage is heated from sustainable wood sources from the grascott estate and powered some if the time by solar panels . Sam the owner very friendly and hospitable . Great place for dogs though bring the tick remover tool and make sure they are up to date on tick/flea doses! ...

The cottage is on a plantation estate. The enclosed garden is a good size, south facing, with a pretty planted border and backing onto field and fir trees. Well kitted out with all you need, but the living space with kitchen, lounge, hallway is one space - and it is very small with one small sofa, 2 small armchairs. The conservatory is a nice space - the table had been put in there when we stayed -( I think it is too cramped in the kitchen area for it, ) which is a shame as a large sofa in the conservatory would be lovely. There were a couple of wicker chairs though. The downstairs bathroom is a good size. The upstairs one with the shower is very small. A few shelves would be helpful here as the sink was too tiny to fit toothbrushes on. Two bedrooms are a good size, but two beds in the third was a push. My daughter said her bed was really narrow. I think 6 people would be pushing it. There were 4 of us, and I think that was OK. There are walks from the door, but some of the tracks seem overgrown. It was though wonderful to spot deer & a hare in the grounds and one night from the garden, a barn owl. There were loads of swallows & house martins in the evening which was lovely (I actually had to rescue a house Martin from the log burner one morning- I assume he had flown down the pipe or something!) and we counted 50 bats flying out from the roof one night. Fantastic! A good location for exploring the area, with dolphin watching, boat trips (eg Ilfracombe) etc and beaches eg Croyde within a reasonable drive. The local pub (The Black River Inn in Black Torrington) with food, a 5-10min drive has a lovely beer garden with delicious tapas food, ideal if you have dogs....
