A Great Find

We chanced on this pub as holidaying just down the road at Reysons Barn. Lovely people. Lovely food. Lovely atmosphere.

Winchelsea is a quiet village with a gently sloping beach of shingle. Sand is exposed at low tide. There are lovely views south east towards Camber Sands and Dungeness and Rye Nature Reserve is just a short walk away to the east. Rye is an utterly charming town, originally a medieval citadel with pretty cobbled streets lined with medieval half-timbered houses. You will find a delightful selection of independent shops and eateries, plus some wonderful historic houses including the 14th century Ypres Tower, now home to Rye Castle Museum and Lamb House once owned by the writer Henry James.

Amazing place to visit

Beautiful old world charming town. So many different pubs and cafes and an abundance of independent shops.

A charming 17th century pub located next to Rye Castle. Call in for real ales from local independent producers and locally distilled gins and vodkas. Whilst there is no kitchen, local cheeses and cured meats are available to accompany drinks. There's a fabulous beer garden, perfect for summer time.

Located just 50 miles from London, this small town was named after the famous Battle of Hastings. These days life is much more tranquil and you'll find a thriving market town with pretty medieval cottages, interesting shops and historic landmarks.
