I thoroughly enjoyed my week in Carter’s Cottage. It is in a very rural area in a typical English country lane, just a short drive from lovely villages, churches and Arlington Reservoir. It took about ten minutes to get to the A27 so I easily spent days in Eastbourne, Hastings and Seaford and visited two National Trust properties. The sun shone for me; even though it was early March I sat on the patio and watched the sheep munching happily and in the evenings there were lovely sunsets. The cottage was well equipped, comfy and clean and there were lots of books and DVDs to borrow. There was also one of the best showers I’ve ever stood under! The owners were really friendly and kind and I knew they were close by if I needed them, but I enjoyed the lovely peace of the Sussex countryside. I’d definitely go back to Carter’s Cottage....

A stunning cottage for two people deep in the countryside. A convenient pub a quarter of a mile away the yew tree, excellent food and staff. A very quaint village store at Ripe, one mile away which serves coffee and cake to customers plus has a bar (Thursdays). A lovely ideal escape from today’s rat race. ...

Carters cottage is decorated to a high standard but it has a simplistic charm that is calming to mind, body + spirit. The outside offers the best of nature, big skies, glorious sunsets, birdsong, dancing butterflies + dragonflies. It’s so peaceful just watching the chilled out sheep and horses graze outside the window. If you need to hit the reset button then this is the place for you....
