Beautiful cottage and stunning location, but the access from Polhawn Fort is a serious concern. Returning to the cottage — especially at night — felt unsafe due to extremely slippery steps, inadequate rope and chain handrails, exposed rebar creating trip hazards, and no lighting at all. Navigating this in the dark with a torch was genuinely risky, and I’m surprised there haven’t been serious accidents. Given the high cost of the stay, it was disappointing to have to risk our safety just to reach the property. Repairs to the steps and proper lighting should be an urgent priority for the safety of future guests....

The path is maintained by the local council, and it appears that the recent storm may have caused some damage and wear. The owners are very sorry that you experienced difficulty and will be monitoring the situation closely. In poor weather, there is an alternative road route that may be easier to navigate. Easy to find although a little tricky to get to down a very steep track. Property was beautiful and exactly as described. Ideal location for attending a wedding at Polhawn Fort.

We had an amazing week at the Hideaway. Such a peaceful location, a lovely property and host, the views were amazing. We had lovely walks on the coastal path, days on the beautiful beach and sunsets in the evenings. We had to tear ourselves away!
