Mrs Smith March 2026

We had a great week at The Cider Barn which was incredibly comfortable with everything we required for our week away. The views from the Barn and patio were wonderful overlooking the valley and flock of sheep grazing - so peaceful. The weather at the beginning of the week was good allowing us to really relax, take in the views and recharge batteries! The hosts Shirley and Mike were so helpful especially helping with my husband’s health issues and were on hand if needed. The bedrooms and bathrooms with walk-in showers for both couples were particularly welcome and extremely comfortable. The kitchen and living area had everything we needed for our week away. We know the area well but The Cider Barn is one of the best holiday homes we have stayed in; we had a lovely holiday and will hopefully be able to return in the future. ...

This was our third year at this property (and we have booked to come back next year). The fact that we keep coming back says it all really! Lovely property in a beautiful location. And the lemon drizzle cake is a bonus!

Very comfortable cottage with great views and footpaths to walk from the door. Great base for exploring Sidmouth and the local area.

Ms Lambourne April 2026

Cider Barn is an ideal accommodation for 2 people, nicely equipped with spacious en-suites and plenty of storage in both bedrooms. The view across the little valley to Harpford House is very pretty with a variety of established native trees. The East Devon Way is literally outside the gate and the local walking is fairly easy, especially along the River Otter in either direction. Local buses along the A3052 through Newton Poppleford were running every half hour in late April/May, and it took us an easy 30 minutes to walk along the river to the nearest bus stop and catch the 9a into Sidmouth. (We are 75yrs + and these days take in the views: anyone younger could probably do it in 20 minutes.) There is also a disused railway line within easy distance of the cottage which runs north-south between Tipton and Harpford Woods; this too provides very easy walking on flat ground. ...
