The countryside around Barbridge is stunning, ancient hillsides and wonderful views.
There is a short unmade track from the main road up to the cottage. There is an ancient drover's track off it - a great first walk to find out about your surroundings.
This is the view from the hilltop above Barbridge - a lovely place to walk to and just sit and relax.
The Half Moon pub in Melplash is one mile away.
The stunning Jurassic cliffs at West Bay. Have lunch at the Watch House cafe - right on the beach.
West Bay has the nearest beach to Barbridge Cottage - this is the pretty harbour there.
This is the beach at Seatown, just below Dorset's famous Golden Cap. There is a lovely pub here too, perfect for lazy seaside lunches.
These are the stunning gardens at Mapperton House near Beaminster, filming location for Far from the Madding Crowd.
Athelhampton House is just the other side of Dorchester.

This is a beautiful, warm, comfortable cottage which is exceptionally well equipped. The hosts are very helpful and the welcome basket was much appreciated. As well as being well placed for exploring west Dorset and east Devon, the on site attractions of the resident animals, especially the alpacas, are an added bonus. We were particularly blessed with mild and dry weather for November which ensured we could play golf, fly fish and complete some pretty challenging walks for a couple of crumblies! We first stayed here in 2006 and our return certainly did not disappoint....

The hosts Sally and Justin were very welcoming and immediately made us feel at ease. Provided good additional information and tips. They were very sociable :0) Its a lovely cottage with fantastic views and beautiful location. We loved their four legged family too (alpacas, hens, ducks, dogs, cats...) We enjoyed it so much that we are taking my elderly mother back again next June. My mother is is a wheelchair so the rails and wide access and ramp worked really well for her....

This is a really good relaxing place to stay. Plenty of walks locally and only 4-5 miles to the coast. Very welcoming hosts make it a great experience.

Beautiful home from home. Wonderful hosts Justin and Sally made you feel so welcome - so much to see and do! Meeting and feeding the alpacas was a highlight. Can not recommend enough!
