The countryside around Barbridge is stunning, ancient hillsides and wonderful views.
There is a short unmade track from the main road up to the cottage. There is an ancient drover's track off it - a great first walk to find out about your surroundings.
This is the view from the hilltop above Barbridge - a lovely place to walk to and just sit and relax.
The Half Moon pub in Melplash is one mile away.
The stunning Jurassic cliffs at West Bay. Have lunch at the Watch House cafe - right on the beach.
West Bay has the nearest beach to Barbridge Cottage - this is the pretty harbour there.
This is the beach at Seatown, just below Dorset's famous Golden Cap. There is a lovely pub here too, perfect for lazy seaside lunches.
These are the stunning gardens at Mapperton House near Beaminster, filming location for Far from the Madding Crowd.
Athelhampton House is just the other side of Dorchester.

We really enjoyed our stay at Barbridge cottage. It was clean, lovely furnished and decorated, quiet and perfect throughout. Nice bathrooms, big kitchen, more than enough plates, glasses, cutleries etc... The owners were incredibly friendly and helpful! Our daughter loved feedind the animals. We were surprised with a fantastic welcome pack on our arrival day! Visit the nearby halfmoon Pub, they serve fantastic food with great service. Our favourite beach was West Bexington Beach, not crowded at all and a superb restaurant. We loved the waves and the refreshing sea! Definitely to recommend!...

We have just spent an amazing week at Barbridge Cottage……wall to wall sunshine & very hot. However we managed to keep cool in this delightful holiday let which was very comfortable & well equipped. The owners, Sally & Justin, were so friendly & helpful but not obtrusive. We were able to wander around the lakes that are part of the property & really enjoyed seeing the alpacas every evening. Would thoroughly recommend this place to anyone wanting to explore the local area....

Lovely cottage - quiet setting. Everything to hand to make the stay a happy one. Genial hosts next door at the farm. It helps a lot being on one level - (we don't cope with cottagey stairs any more!)

We had a lovely time at Barbridge Cottage. It was comfortable and spacious. A bonus was the goslings born on the farm when we were there. All the animals seemed relaxed and happy. A perfect location to explore the surrounding area. We would recommend it to others!...

Barbridge cottage is perfect if you want a getaway holiday. The pace of life slows as you drive up the access road and time stands still.
