Bunk-bedsA ten minute walk down to the sea, the village of Holcombe is tucked away in the Devon countryside but within easy reach of the attractions of the south Devon coast.
This cosy, end of terrace cottage has an open plan living-room with stairs to the bedrooms leading from the kitchen/dining-area; a part-glazed door opens to the enclosed garden which is lovely on a summer’s evening.
There is a seldom-used right of way across the garden and the village church is opposite (a bell rings at around ten on Sunday mornings). Just up the road is the village pub, offering good food and a warm welcome. As the road through Holcombe is on a slight gradient, the uphill walk to the pub can be a challenge, however when homeward bound, the downhill stroll is rather pleasant.
If exploring the area, you can stroll down to the coast via the quaintly named Smugglers Lane and at low tide there is a pretty beach. The coastal path above runs beside the railway and goes into Teignmouth, a bit of a walk, but a great beach when you get there.
There is such a lot to do close by you probably won’t need to venture far.
