A busy sea front pub with live music most evenings and Sundays. Seafood is a speciality on the menu and there is also a daily specials board. Dogs and muddy boots are welcome.
With no access by car this pretty little cove has managed to stay unspoilt. It's a gentle quiet place with a collection of cottages and a cafe and restaurant (only open during the summer). To get there walk from either Ventnor Esplanade along the coast path or down Love Lane. Dogs are allowed from May to the end of September but must be on a lead. There is no lifeguard cover.
Under two hours of discovering cold war bunkers and military secrets on a steep and difficult 2.6 mile challenge. The National Trust have put together a great free download to help.
Ventnor is the place to go if you enjoy a vibrant arts scene or botanical gardens. It seems a little warmer here all year-round, hence the flora and plentiful fish make it a great spot for anglers. Most of the island crab comes from here.
Offering views across the Solent, this bistro bar and restaurant has a wide ranging menu throughout the day. You can watch the world go by from the outdoor seating or enjoy the nautical interior inside. Dogs and children are welcome.
Fabulous Old Fort
Wonderful seafront eatery and hostelry. Delicious food, great service - all with fab views of the sea and moorings
Great food and atmosphere
The food here is always excellent and the staff friendly and efficient.
The Old Fort Seaview
Pub / restaurant
Great views, tasty vegan food
We booked in advance having seen reviews about it being busy, glad we did it was full. We were lucky to get window table, wonderful view, relaxed environment, friendly efficient staff. Great to gave vegan options and can recommend the quality chilli. Would certainly go again!
Ate here twice during our weeks stay in Seaview. Even though we hadn’t booked the first time we went, which was a busy Saturday lunch time and we were a party of 6 including a 3 year old, we were given a warm welcome and seated with no problems. We had great service and the food was delicious on both occasions. We booked for our second visit as it seems to be a very popular place, understandably given the quality of the food and the service. Very family friendly too with a great buzzy atmosphere, would highly recommend a visit.
Great food and atmosphere
Excellent food and wine list, very helpful staff, not to be missed
Amazing food and dog friendly
So nice we went twice for food and several times for a drink outside after a day on the beach!
Dog friendly and a lovely view.
Great menu and fab service
Nice evening meal
Great atmosphere, nice staff, good food, reasonable pricing
Great service, food and view, visited a number of times during our stay and were never disappointed.
Food great and great location
Lovely location on seafront and food was excellent. Staff friendly and attentive too.
Lovely views, friendly staff, nice food
We visited a couple of times and enjoyed it. Great view!
Excellent food and great staff
This is a great place to eat as it has some lovely dishes and has a specials board. We tried the sea bass which was so nice we returned for a second helping! Our party also tried the fish of the day which was a whole sea bream, again delicious. The shell on prawns, the fish and chips and the crab ramekin were also really nice and the bread served here was gorgeous and you get plenty of butter. The chocolate brownie dessert was a triumph too. All of this, plus it is dog friendly! Definitely recommended to try.
The Old Fort
Great food, lovely staff and very welcoming
Two had ploughman's, one fish and chips, one sea bass. All excellent.
The new to the menu Lemon Posset was a delightful end to the meal.
Good quality, well priced
Good quality, well priced and varied menu, with indoor and outdoor seating. We had a whole fresh plaice, and pulled pork burger, and both were excellent. Decent wine list as well
Mrs Rachel Coleman
Excellent friendly service.
Lovely staff and food.
We usually go to the weekly curry night when we are on holiday
The Old Fort Seaview
Lovely seaside pub with outside sitting area. Enjoyed the food, but you do need to book ahead as they get very busy and its OK to sit outside if it is a balmy summer evening.
We never got to actually eat in this pub. We did try several times but we were either too late or too early and they weren't serving food and then on our last evening there we were told no dogs after 6pm so we couldn't get a table. To be honest we did rather feel that sailing club members were given priority over holiday makers and that we were a bit of a nuisance that is tolerated rather than encouraged.
This gem of a place is located centrally on the Island and offers a loving and forever home to donkeys. Open daily, entry is free and you can wander the site to say hello to over 100 donkeys and ponies. Dogs are welcome and Grazers Cafe offers refreshments. Donations to support the sanctuary are very welcome.
A recently opened community shop offering local produce, newspapers, fresh fruit, veg and milk. It's ideally situated in the middle of Seaview and a great place to stock up. They are only open mornings until Easter and then will extend to all day until October.
Fantastic community shop!
An absolute treasure trove selling everyday essentials and lots of special island treats. Very pleasant people running it.
Great community shop
Well stocked with fresh bread and bakery items daily. Very helpful, polite staff. Nice to talk to local people who helped with advice on days out, beaches etc
Friendly and sell stocked
Went in for one thing came out with 6 including beautiful local artist card plus a new beach spade and tasty sourdough bread!Very handy organised little shop and always a bonus when served with cheerful attitude.
Well stocked shop right in the middle of Seaview
A community shop spread over three linked rooms.
A good selection of food and general necessities and also buckets, spades and crabbing lines.
Gem of a shop
Everything you need for day to day catering. Wonderful
Everything you need
If staying in Seaview please support this shop with its friendly staff.
Great selection. Lovely staff.
This shop was open at 2 set times during the day, and we were pleased to see it was open until 18.30 when we stayed in Sept. They have a great choice of local produce including dairy items, the milk and Greek yogurt we had was delicious. The fruit was fresh and good quality, plus on sale were various dry goods and newspapers. A great selection of items. We will use the shop again if we return to Seaview.
Great Little Local Shop
A new community shop recently opened in the heart of the village. It offers fresh fruit and vegetables, milk, bread and other local produce. This is the perfect place to get provisions in Seaview and saves a trip to the supermarket in the car.
This pub is slap bang in the middle of Bembridge village and is popular with locals and visitors alike. Parking is fine on the roads nearby. The menu is created using food locally sourced in the village so expect seasonal, fresh produce. Specials change daily and include fish fresh from the local harbour. A pizza oven is the latest addition so freshly made pizza is also on the menu.
Old Village Inn
Really good pub with great staff. A constructive criticism would be that modifications and updating can sometimes detract from that old world pub character that we love. Still very good and highly recommended, but could be even better.
Fabulous friendly staff
We used this pub several times as a large family group, with young children and baby. The landlord couldn’t have been more helpful and ensured everyone was happy. The chef was also willing to adapt meals to suit and the serving staff quick and efficient. A really great place to grab a meal.
The Old Village Inn
Lovely atmosphere very welcoming and friendly, food was excellent perfect for us
Old Village Inn
We visited this pub on our first night in Bembridge after booking in advance. Very friendly staff, child friendly menu, well located
Staff really nice food is excellent but book in advance as it can get really busy
Great friendly pub. Went a couple of times and the food was great, the staff were welcoming and the quiz was great fun. Really enjoyed our nights here and wish this was my local.
Friendly, welcoming, something for everyone.
Fabulous find in the village centre. Wide and varied menu, catering for most dietary needs. Staff are incredible. We ate here twice in a row, but I have no doubt that if you were in the area for a week you wouldn't run out of options.
Traditional village pub
I like it here. It's casual, frequented by locals (usually a good sign) and the food is pretty good for a village pub. The meat is from the local butchers and highly recommended.
Acess is a bit of a scramble but you are assured a nice quite spot here. The sand is red and white with large boulders and rocks. There are fabulous uninterrupted views over the Solent and the village of St Lawrence is close by.
Well worth the walk
We walked down here with a 10 and 12 year old. Following the costal path signs
Not for those with mobility issues or a fear of heights as steep steps leading down with large rocks at the bottom but lovely when you get there very peaceful Beware of the cows in the field as they didn't appreciate people in the field!!!
