The location of attractions is intended only as a guide. Distances are 'as the crow flies'.

Nearest pub

The Village Inn (¼ mile)

Pretty thatched pub in the located in the old village area. Food is traditional with a selection of real ales and good wine choice. Orders are cooked from scratch but worth the wait.

Nearest beach

Shanklin Beach (¾ mile)

A safe and sandy beach with lots of nearby parking. A real traditional bucket and spade destination with amusements, crazy golf and go-carting nearby. With a high sea wall and pavement promenade this is an idea place for a stroll with views over the English Channel. Dogs are not allowed between May to the end of September. The beach has life guards during high season.

Nearest walk

Groves and Gardens Histree Trail (¼ mile)

This trail, kindly available to download from iwight.com, has two distance options; either just over three miles or just over four. You can explore groves, gardens and ancient woodland. You'll find plenty of places to stop off for a break and some lovely views.

Nearest town

Shanklin (¾ mile)

A town so large it is split into two, the old and the new, Shanklin is perched on the south west coast. The new part of town is what you'd expect from a lovely seaside town, with a theatre at its heart that we'd thoroughly recommend. But wander out to the old time and you'll feel a world away - in another century! But in the best possible way, with cream teas and thatched cottages as well as old inns.

Also nearby

The Pointer Inn (3 miles)

Traditional pub grub but with a difference. Locals are offered a bartering exchange system where they provide local produce in exchange for meals or drinks. Great idea and upholds their intent to use local products. A garden with views across the downs and a large terrace are available for summer dining. Child and dog friendly. You may wish to book; this is a very popular place.

This is a beautiful traditional pub that serves excellent food and has staff that will go the extra mile. I love that you can order some of the dishes from the menu as a smaller portion so there is no food waste. All food is locally sourced and they can even tell you the name of the person who grew it!

The Taverners (3 miles)

A traditional country pub which uses local produce and even its own home grown herbs from a vegetable patch in the garden. There's a kids play area and a shop selling all sorts of local produce. Dogs are welcome.

A warm welcome

We booked for a meal at The Taverners after first visiting there for a drink earlier in the week. We received a warm friendly welcome and the food was excellent, plenty of choice with daily specials and a bit different to the norm. . The service was excellent and very prompt. Their local brew was also good. I would definitely recommend this establishment and would visit again when I am next on the Isle.

The Old Village Inn (6 miles)

This pub is slap bang in the middle of Bembridge village and is popular with locals and visitors alike. Parking is fine on the roads nearby. The menu is created using food locally sourced in the village so expect seasonal, fresh produce. Specials change daily and include fish fresh from the local harbour.

Friendly local

Great friendly pub. Went a couple of times and the food was great, the staff were welcoming and the quiz was great fun. Really enjoyed our nights here and wish this was my local.

Friendly, welcoming, something for everyone.

Fabulous find in the village centre. Wide and varied menu, catering for most dietary needs. Staff are incredible. We ate here twice in a row, but I have no doubt that if you were in the area for a week you wouldn't run out of options.

Traditional village pub

I like it here. It's casual, frequented by locals (usually a good sign) and the food is pretty good for a village pub. The meat is from the local butchers and highly recommended.

The Chequers Inn (4 ¼ miles)

Set in the heart of the countryside, this pub has masses of parking, a huge kids play area, childrens menu and dogs are welcome. Three roaring log fires will keep you toasty in winter.

Best pub/restuarant we visited durring our stay.

Excellent food, good selection of beers and the friendliest staff you could wish to have serving you.
They made our border collie Mollie really welcome.

Seaview Village Community Shop (7 ¼ miles)

A recently opened community shop offering local produce, newspapers, fresh fruit, veg and milk. It's ideally situated in the middle of Seaview and a great place to stock up. They are only open mornings until Easter and then will extend to all day until October.

Great choice

This shop was open at 2 set times during the day, and we were pleased to see it was open until 18.30 when we stayed in Sept. They have a great choice of local produce including dairy items, the milk and Greek yogurt we had was delicious. The fruit was fresh and good quality, plus on sale were various dry goods and newspapers. A great selection of items. We will use the shop again if we return to Seaview.

Great Little Local Shop

A new community shop recently opened in the heart of the village. It offers fresh fruit and vegetables, milk, bread and other local produce. This is the perfect place to get provisions in Seaview and saves a trip to the supermarket in the car.
