Nearest pub

The Buddle Inn (¼ mile)

Located up the road from St Catherine's Lighthouse and in an area of outstanding beauty, this pub is the most southerly on the island. Sit on the outside terrace and enjoy views across the bay or in winter warm up infront of an open fire. The menu is traditional and dogs are very welcome.

Nearest beach

Reeth Bay (½ mile)

A pretty little cove, great for rock pooling with a slipway, small area of sand with rocky surrounding area. Dog restrictions apply during high season. There is no lifeguard cover so care should be taken.

Nearest walk

St Catherine's Point walk (¾ mile)

A good couple of hours stomp over moderate terrain with some difficult bits gives you a great outing around the only onshore lighthouse left on the island, as well as lots of comms history, wildlife and views. The National Trust have a free download fully describing the route.

Nearest town

Ventnor (3 ¾ miles)

Ventnor is the place to go if you enjoy a vibrant arts scene or botanical gardens. It seems a little warmer here all year-round, hence the flora and plentiful fish make it a great spot for anglers. Most of the island crab comes from here.

Also nearby

The Taverners (3 ¾ miles)

A traditional country pub which uses local produce and even its own home grown herbs from a vegetable patch in the garden. There's a kids play area and a shop selling all sorts of local produce. Dogs are welcome.

A warm welcome

We booked for a meal at The Taverners after first visiting there for a drink earlier in the week. We received a warm friendly welcome and the food was excellent, plenty of choice with daily specials and a bit different to the norm. . The service was excellent and very prompt. Their local brew was also good. I would definitely recommend this establishment and would visit again when I am next on the Isle.

Binnel Bay (1 mile)

A rocky stretch of coastline between St Lawrence and Niton. Difficult access and no sand. It is however an interesting place to visit as there are large pieces of masionry which were once piers. There is no lifeguard cover here. Dogs are allowed.

The Cove Coffee Shop (1 mile)

Situated in the delightful hamlet of Steephill this quaint coffee shop also sells all manner of beach goods, ice cream, sweets and more. Access is limited due to the steep path and steps to the beach.

Blackgang Chine (1 ¼ miles)

Hours of family fun in Ventnor. Explore the park and enjoy. Parking is free and there's a limited number of disabled parking spaces.

White Horse Inn (1 ½ miles)

One of the oldest pubs in England, you will find a warm welcome and traditional pub grub here. There's ample parking, it's child friendly and dogs are allowed. There is also a large beer garden,
