Beautiful place to walk the dog and the kids!

Gurnard (3 ¼ miles)

A hidden gem, west of well-known Cowes, think beautiful beach huts lining the shores, picnic greens and happy families. This is a great place to bring the little ones. Gurnard is such a pretty place. The children loved skimming stones on the beach here, then a long play in the lovely park (which is enclosed) and then we finished off with a hot chocolate and a slice of cake at the Watersedge Beach Cafe. Perfect!

The Breeze Restaurant (¼ mile)

Visit the peaceful marina at Harbour Island and enjoy sitting by the water and watching the world go by. The interior has recently undergone extensive renovation and outside there's a raised seating platform giving a stunning view over the river Medina. open daily throughout the year this restaurant is ideally located just two miles south of Cowes.

The Pointer Inn (5 miles)

Traditional pub grub but with a difference. Locals are offered a bartering exchange system where they provide local produce in exchange for meals or drinks. Great idea and upholds their intent to use local products. A garden with views across the downs and a large terrace are available for summer dining. Child and dog friendly. You may wish to book; this is a very popular place.

This is a beautiful traditional pub that serves excellent food and has staff that will go the extra mile. I love that you can order some of the dishes from the menu as a smaller portion so there is no food waste. All food is locally sourced and they can even tell you the name of the person who grew it!

Whippingham (1 mile)

Just inland of the north coast, there's a church designed by Prince Albert and many historic connections to the Royal family. Sit riverside on balmy afternoons in the peace and quiet this off-the-beaten-track village affords.
