Super-kingWelcome to Boothgate, a wonderfully quirky countryside retreat perched on the edge of the breathtaking Peak District. Bursting with personality, colour and unexpected touches, this one-of-a-kind property is perfect for families and friends looking for something a little different. Designed with multi-generational gatherings in mind, Boothgate offers an eclectic mix of sociable spaces, cosy hideaways and unique features, including its unforgettable barbecue hut.
Beyond the electric gates, ample parking awaits within the grounds. Step inside and you'll immediately discover a home that celebrates individuality. At its heart is the characterful kitchen/diner, where a substantial solid wood butcher's table invites everyone to gather for leisurely breakfasts and lively conversations. The separate dining-room provides the perfect setting for long evenings sharing stories over good food. While a cosy snuggle chair offers the ideal spot for those quiet moments to indulge in a good read.
The vibrant sitting-room is a real showstopper. Filled with colour and charm and serves as a bright and welcoming social space by day. As evening falls, simply close the shutters and doors, settle into the comfortable sofas, and transform the room into your very own private cinema. A separate snug with a large TV provides an additional retreat for children and teenagers, or anyone seeking a little peace and quiet.
Upstairs, reached via two separate staircases, are four generously sized bedrooms, with two featuring quirky en suite shower-rooms with distinctive styling. A stylish family bathroom completes the accommodation.
Outside, Boothgate's playful personality continues. The spacious garden is dotted with unique places to relax, from sun loungers and picnic spots to a striking high table with original barrel stools and an atmospheric stone circle perfect for soaking up the views.
The crowning jewel is undoubtedly the hexagonal barbecue hut. Gather around the central grill, enjoy great food in all seasons, and create memorable evenings filled with laughter and good company.
With its eclectic interiors, quirky design features and abundance of character, Boothgate is far more than a holiday home - it's a memorable Peak District escape unlike any other.
Nestled near the charming village of Heage on the southern edge of the Peak District, Boothgate is ideally located for exploring some of Derbyshire's most loved attractions, picturesque landscapes and historic towns.
Just a short stroll downhill, you'll find The Black Boy Inn, a traditional village pub renowned for its warm welcome and excellent food. Heage itself is home to the remarkable Heage Windmill, the only six-sailed working windmill in England, which opens to visitors on summer weekends.
A few minutes away lies the attractive market town of Belper, steeped in textile history. Visit Strutt's North Mill to discover the town's industrial heritage, take a peaceful boat trip along the River Derwent, or simply relax in the riverside gardens and watch the ducks drift by.
A visit to the Heights of Abraham is a must. Travel by cable car high above the Derwent Valley, enjoy breathtaking views across the countryside, explore fascinating cavern tours, and keep younger visitors entertained in the adventure playground.
The vibrant village of Matlock Bath is also within easy reach. Often described as Derbyshire's seaside resort, it offers a lively promenade lined with independent shops, cafes and amusement arcades, alongside tranquil riverside walks.
No visit to the area would be complete without exploring magnificent Chatsworth House, one of England's finest country estates. Admire its stunning architecture and beautiful gardens, then browse the renowned farm shop for locally produced food and treats from the estate.
For walkers and outdoor enthusiasts, the possibilities are endless. Explore scenic trails through the Amber Valley, enjoy gentle waterside walks along the Cromford Canal, or venture further into the spectacular landscapes of the Peak District National Park.
With so much to see and do, Boothgate provides the perfect base from which to discover this beautiful corner of England, whether you're seeking outdoor adventure, fascinating history, or simply a relaxing countryside escape.
