TwinSet in the historic village of Myton on Swale, which was mentioned in the 1086 Domesday book and home to a charming historic 19th Century cast Iron bridge, Holly Tree offers an idyllic escape beside the River Swale. This architect designed retreat is nestled in a superb location between York and Boroughbridge with the Yorkshire Dales and North York Moors not too far away.
Newly renovated, the cottage effortlessly blends contemporary design with its rural surroundings, faded linen and muted hues mirroring the view of the gardens and patchwork fields beyond. Bi-fold doors in the open plan kitchen and dining-area lead out onto the large patio, ensuring plenty of natural light. The sweeping views beyond provide a picturesque backdrop.
A generous island takes centre stage in the kitchen, perfect for any enthusiastic cook, while the large dining-table invites you to gather for a while and take time out to enjoy the company of family and friends.
Wander to the sitting-room with its subtle pinks and pops of colour which grace this cosy, yet elegant, space and combine stylish elegance with cosy vibes.
Holly Tree accommodates six guests with the flexibility of four bedrooms; the first being on the ground floor, complete with an en suite shower-room. Wander up the bespoke wooden staircase and choose from the three further bedrooms and a WC for your convenience. All the bedrooms offer peace and serenity, and all boast gorgeous linens, fluffy duvets and a style which has a hint of the French country house aesthetic. There is a family bathroom, with separate shower, on the ground floor and a WC on the first floor which completes the layout.
Holly Tree Cottage gives you the gift of luxurious relaxation and brims with all you need for a perfect stay in the Yorkshire countryside.
Myton on Swale is a delightful, no through road, hamlet which nestles within the heart of North Yorkshire, offering a peaceful escape surrounded by beautiful countryside.
The area is a haven for walkers and cyclists, there are many pathways and cycle tracks close by suitable for all abilities.
Within just half an hour there are many iconic town and cities of Yorkshire to visit, each with its own character. York, with its imposing minster and medieval walls, is just 30 minutes' drive away. Wander down the famous Shambles where medieval timber-framed buildings lean toward each other overhead, now home to quirky independent shops and popular Harry Potter-themed stores.
Knaresborough offers a completely different charm with winding medieval streets, and stone staircases that weave their way up and down. Here you will find Mother Shipton's Cave, England's oldest visitor attraction and famous for its petrifying well where flowing mineral water has turned everyday objects into stone.
And don't forget the beautiful market town of Easingwold where you might pick up something scrumptious for lunch. History lovers will be spoiled for choice with spectacular abbeys scattered across the region, including Rievaulx Abbey, fountains and Byland Abbey. Perhaps the most iconic being Whitby Abbey, the inspiration for Bram Stoker's 'Dracula'. Why not take a trip to the seaside and dip your toes in the sea and feel the sand beneath your feet, the east coast has many old fishing villages such as Robin Hood's Bay with its dark history of smuggling or Whitby with its heritage of fishing and the home of Captain Cook.
For food lovers, the area offers outstanding dining experiences, with no fewer than four Michelin-starred restaurants nearby. These include the acclaimed Black Swan at Oldstead and Roots in York by celebrated chef Tommy Banks.
