Escape to the hills at the exquisite The Retreat, with large swim spa, which offers luxurious accommodation for up to 10 people in an enchanting complex of three gorgeous barn conversions, nestling in an area of outstanding beauty between Crickhowell and Brecon, in the pretty Welsh village of Llanynidr. Take in the stunning views and majestic beauty as you unwind in this heavenly corner of Wales. Although idyllically immersed in tranquil nature, The Retreat is just an eight minute walk to the two village pubs, a vibrant cafe, newly renovated play park and the village shop. Follow the meandering River Usk or Brecon canal walks nearby, choose trails on foot or by bicycle in the Black Mountains, try tranquil scenic activities like canoeing, kayaking, paddleboarding on the River Usk or nearby lakes within the Brecon Beacons National Park, or browse the independent shops and choice of eateries in Crickhowell, a short drive away.

The meticulously designed cottages, offer one en suite king room in The Horse Shoe, which has the flexibility to interconnect with The Stables, where you will find, an en suite king room and an en suite twin. The third cottage, The Coach House, comprises of an en suite king room, and an en suite twin room. Each cottage has its own dream kitchen and private garden. The beautifully appointed accommodation offers the opportunity for blissful time out or for joining the rest of the party for a fun time together. Gather everyone around the large table in The Coach House for a holiday feast and an evening of laughter and perhaps a game of Uno. Relax in the heavenly swim spa in The Coach House garden, or arrange with the lovely owners to use the cocktail bar, a charming converted horse box. On a still starry night fire up the barbecue and dine al fresco then share stories around the fire-pit.

The local area has something for everyone. Crickhowell, with stunning mountain views is an historic market town with a vibrant Georgian High Street, a choice of eateries, a 12th Century castle and Crug Hywel (Table Mountain), an Iron Age hillfort overlooks the town. Abergavenny is a popular destination for shoppers, walkers, food lovers and explorers, with easy access to the Black Mountains and the Sugar Loaf. There are plenty of gorgeous gastro pubs, ancient inns and restaurants in the area. A highlight is the Abergavenny Food Festival. Raglan Castle is just down the road and the World Heritage Centre at Blaenavon, is something to do on a rainy day. Cardiff is just a 40 minute drive away. Experience the culture, theatre, sporting events and concerts with restaurants and shopping galore. Zip World at the former Tower Colliery is an adrenaline-filled day out. Fly the world's fasted seated zip line or climb a giant adventure course, the largest in the UK or take the 2-seater Tower Coaster, the only one of its kind in Europe. Maybe you prefer to chase the many waterfalls in the area or simply take time out, away-from-it-all.
