DoubleWelcome to the Old Stables, a sanctuary of weathered red brick and rustic charm that captures the very soul of the Yorkshire Wolds. If you are looking for a getaway that swaps the constant sound of everyday life for the gentle crackle of a log-burner and the rustle of the trees, you've found your home-from-home.
Step through the stable-door and into the dining kitchen with its traditional farmhouse table and beautiful beams. This room blends farmhouse tradition with modern convenience. It is a space designed for slow mornings and conversation over a cup of Yorkshire tea. The wooden cabinetry is stocked with everything you need to whip up a traditional Sunday roast. The Rayburn is in use from October to March and although it is the only oven in the kitchen there is a two ring induction hob and the handy utility houses a small oven, together with the washing machine plus even more pots and pans.
The sitting-room has interiors which evoke the perfect country cottage and the heritage of the building, with flagstone floors and a cosy wood-burner, while the deep comfortable sofas invite you to sink in with a local brew. Climb the wooden stairs to the first floor with two double bedrooms. Designed with privacy in mind, both bedrooms feature their own en suite shower-rooms. With vaulted ceilings and plenty of beams these rooms offer a perfect haven where the only alarm clock is the distant sound of birdsong.
The front courtyard is a low maintenance, high atmosphere space, with two separate seatings areas and a fire-pit. It's a great spot to plan your next adventure through the Yorkshire Wolds.
Situated in the delightful hamlet of Boynton, next to the owners' property, the location of The Old Stables is ideal for exploring the very best of the Yorkshire Wolds.
Venturing inland brings you to the rolling hills of the Yorkshire Wolds, an often overlooked gem offering scenic walks, peaceful landscapes and views that inspired the British artist David Hockney. Explore the market town of Driffield, or visit Wetwang - famed for its traditional fish and chip shop.
Just a short drive away sits the traditional seaside town of Bridlington, known for its award-winning sandy beaches, historic harbour and charming promenades. Enjoy classic fish and chips on the seafront, take a leisurely stroll along the bustling South Beach, or explore the Old Town with its Georgian architecture, galleries and independent shops. Boat trips from the harbour also offer a fantastic way to experience the coastline from the water, giving you a new perspective on this much-loved stretch of Yorkshire.
Heading north you can discover Bempton Cliffs, home to the RSPB sanctuary, where during the right season puffins can be seen darting in and out of their clifftop nests. Along this stretch of coastline you will find Flamborough with its iconic lighthouse and rocky coves - an excellent spot to observe the seals resting on the rocks below.
Further north, you'll find Scarborough, offering a wonderful mix of attractions from the Sealife Centre to the renowned Open Air Theatre, where you can enjoy live entertainment in a unique setting. For something indoors, the Stephen Joseph Theatre provides an excellent programme of drama, comedy and film throughout the year.
For a touch of history, culture and fabulous shopping, the beautiful city of York is easily reached. Wander through medieval streets, visit the stunning Minster, walk the historic walls, and for Harry Potter fans, The Shambles is a must, with shops that might just tempt you to take home your own wand.
