Perched high above the village of Bonchurch and close to the seaside town of Ventnor you will find Verbena Cottage, a lovely holiday home with wonderful views. This super little retreat is the perfect place to explore the delights of the southern tip of the Isle of Wight and take advantage of the unique micro climate, whilst exploring the historic past of one of Britain's most popular health resorts.
Step through the door into the cosy and welcoming sitting-room with all the charm you would expect from a home of this age. Head through to the kitchen, a great and well equipped space to create special meals together or spend time over breakfast, whilst making plans for the day ahead. Next to the kitchen is the ground floor shower-room, perfectly for washing off the salt when you return from a day on the beach. Pop the towels in the washing machine and they'll be ready for your next seaside dip and the next day's adventures.
Upstairs there are two light and airy super comfy bedrooms - the twin room enjoys sea views to the front and the double bedroom is located at the rear of the cottage, this room benefits from an en-suite bathroom. If you have a head for heights and want to experience the best view in the house, from the bathroom take the steep steps and climb up to your own private roof terrace, from here take in the wonderful views of the surrounding Ventnor Downs, a paradise for nature lovers and the perfect spot for some quiet time alone.
If you prefer your outside space on ground level, spend time on the sun terrace, located just through the gate by the front door. This lovely al fresco spot is the perfect place to spend time on one of those balmy summer nights or a beautiful morning, take a glass of something cold or your hot mug of morning coffee.
Walking from the cottage you can explore the local area on foot - with its dramatic coastline and beaches, head to the pretty village of Bonchurch which is right on your doorstep, watch the ducks on the village pond or head down to the beach, and if the steep walk proves to be a little too much, there's a handy pay and display car park nearby.
The town of Ventnor and the high street is brimming with interesting independent shops set alongside plenty of dining opportunities. With an abundance of eclectic shops selling antiques, local produce and some quirky buys, take some time exploring and take home a few holiday souvenirs or that unique find. The town has its own very popular Fringe Festival in late July, a unique celebration of the arts, showcasing emerging and established talent across every creative discipline, another reason to book your stay.
