TwinAs pretty as a picture, feast your eyes on Weirside a stunning Grade II Listed cottage at the heart of the idyllic island village of Brighstone, just half mile from the sea and the perfect getaway for a couple's retreat or small family stay including one very spoilt doggie.
Originally a worker's cottage, Weirside Cottage dates to the early 17th Century and has been beautifully restored with character features such as oak beams and fireplaces. There is driveway parking for two cars, a sunny terrace and a beautifully enclosed garden area reached by a small timber footbridge over a babbling brook which runs through the grounds; this really is the most charming of holiday stays.
Enter the cottage through the front door into a stone porch - great for storing your coats and boots - this leads into the inviting living space. The cosy sitting-room has comfortable sofas, exposed stonework and a brick fireplace (please note this is ornamental) the perfect spot for some quiet time after a busy day of Island sightseeing. The dining-room is furnished with dining-table and chairs, a dresser plus a cosy wood-burner for the winter months. This leads through to the small but perfectly formed kitchen which has all the space you need to prepare a lovely breakfast, or evening meal.
Beyond the kitchen is a well-appointed bathroom with bath and overhead shower, just the place for a long soak in the tub, or quick shower down for sandy toes - please note there is one step up and one step down to the bathroom.
Climb the cottage staircase and you will find two gorgeous light filled bedrooms, one double and one twin, each with good storage for your clothes and belongings. Outside there is a pretty summer-house by the terrace providing another peaceful space, as well as an area for laundry. Babes in arms up to six months are welcomed at Weirside Cottage.
Brighstone is one of the most popular and prettiest villages on the Isle of Wight in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, surrounded by lovely coastal and downland walks from the doorstep of the cottage. The village has all the amenities you might expect with an excellent general store/Post Office selling lots of local Island produce. There is also a newsagents/cafe, gift/card shop, family pub, two churches and even a hairdresser.
Nearby attractions include the famous Needles, beautiful Tennyson Down, Blackgang Chine adventure park and the quaint town of Yarmouth. The beaches of Compton, Freshwater Bay, Totland Bay and Colwell Bay are also within easy reach of Weirside.
