Nestled in a secluded corner of countryside, with picturesque views over the valley and barley fields just metres from your door, Brownscombe Cabin makes for the perfect rural hideaway. Beautifully designed and lavishly furnished, this pastoral retreat is a dream for anyone looking for a quiet escape filled with stargazing, welly walks and al fresco bathing. Even your four-legged friend is most welcome to join you on the adventure!

Entering the cabin you'll find yourself in the kitchen/dining/living space. Equipped with a wood-burner, induction hob and fridge with icebox, here you can cook breakfast as you look out over the surrounding countryside or kick back in front of a crackling wood fire. This room also contains built-in bunk-beds, so if you're after a family adventure, these make an ideal den for younger guests. Complete with porthole windows, avid explorers can keep an eye out for local wildlife. In fact, if you bring binoculars, you might just see the roe deer or night owls, which are well-known in the area. Alternatively, if you're after a romantic getaway, then fear not. The bedroom features a luxurious double bed, dressed in Egyptian cotton bedding, where you can wake with the sunrise and enjoy breakfast in bed with a view. In the bathroom you'll find a freestanding copper bathtub which easily accommodates two. This sits alongside a perfectly positioned window, so you'll see the horizon as you sink into the heavenly bubbles. If you'd like to be a little closer to nature, the bathroom wall opens out into a cleverly designed private screen, allowing you to bathe in the fresh air. Completely private and separate from the other accommodation on site, you will only have birdsong to disturb you.

Outside, the cabin has a covered porch with outdoor furniture as well as an outdoor shower, wooden hot tub and fire-pit. So as the day draws to a close, you can sit out and watch as the stars appear, toasting marshmallows or enjoying a glass of bubbles.

There are four safari tents on site, Brownscombe Tabernacle (2907) and Brownscombe Roundhouse (5225) which are all part of Brownscombe Luxury Glamping. You are assured complete privacy at the cabin, with your own secluded area to enjoy. En route to the hideaway, you will find the owner's shop, Brownscombe Larder, where you can stock up on basics such as bread, milk, bacon, and eggs and even purchase a local gift to take home to someone special as there's a range of amazing crafts to admire. If you wish, the owner can also provide barbecue hampers and delicious casseroles served hot in a Le Creuset pot (please order before your holiday). Just pick up each night from the barn and take back to the cabin to eat.

Additionally, there is a games-room with table-tennis and table-football (shared with the other guests at Brownscombe Luxury Glamping). On site you will also find The Lodge where you can book a table to enjoy fondue by the fire, as well as the Brownscombe Barn where pizza nights are hosted in the summer. If you fancy a little pampering during your stay, you can book in with the on site beauty therapist for a relaxing massage, manicure and other various spa treatments.

Located in the historical hamlet of Compton, you're just a short walk away from the National Trust's Compton Castle, a dramatic fortified manor house with a small formal garden. Further afield, there's also the National Trust's Coleton Fishacre, a 1920s arts-and-crafts-style country retreat and Greenway, the summer home of renowned murder mystery writer Agatha Christie.

For keen walkers, there's Cockington Country Park and Mancombe Woods, which are beautiful spots for a day of rambling. If you fancy a trip to the beach, Fairy Cove, Elberry Cove and Armchair Cove are all within a 30 minute drive. Or for those after some good food, we'd recommend a trip to Riverford Field Kitchen, renowned for their sustainable approach to seasonal feasting.
