Small doubleTucked away in a crest of a valley where sheep quietly graze, this beautifully constructed roundhouse enjoys scenic views and lavish finishes. Thoughtfully designed, you'll find everything you need at this idyllic countryside retreat.
On stepping inside you'll find the open plan living space which is furnished with a wood-burner and comfy leather armchairs, perfect for cosy moments in front of a crackling fire. The room also contains a stylish kitchenette, equipped with a two-ring ceramic hob, a combination microwave oven and under-counter fridge. However, the centrepiece of the room is undeniably the beautifully crafted oak four-poster bed. Dressed in Egyptian cotton bedding and specially commissioned for the roundhouse, you can sink into the sheets knowing you're guaranteed a restful night's sleep. Separate from the main space is a shower-room with piping hot water and a smaller children's bedroom, with a built-in double 'boat bed'. Individual bedding can be provided for this too, so there's no need to worry about duvet squabbles.
Outside you'll find a covered outdoor dining space as well as a wood-fired hot tub, fire-pit and covered outdoor bath. So, whatever the weather, you can sit out (or bathe out) and watch as the sun sets below the trees whilst toasting marshmallows or sipping a glass of bubbles.
There are four safari tents on site, Brownscombe Cabin (5228) and Brownscombe Tabernacle (2907) which are all part of Brownscombe Luxury Glamping. You are promised plenty of privacy during your stay as each hideaway has its own outdoor space and has been carefully positioned in a way that they don't overlook one another. En route to the roundhouse, you will find the owner's shop, Brownscombe Larder, where you can stock up on daily essentials such as bread, milk and eggs. You can even purchase a local gift to take home to someone special as there's a range of amazing local crafts to admire. If you wish, the owner can also provide barbecue hampers and delicious casseroles served hot in a Le Creuset pot (order before your holiday). Just pick up each night from the barn and take back to the roundhouse to enjoy.
Additionally, there is a games-room with table-tennis and table-football (shared with the other guests at Brownscombe Luxury Glamping). On site you will also find The Lodge where you can book a table to enjoy fondue by the fire, as well as the Brownscombe Barn where pizza nights are hosted in the summer months. If you fancy a little pamper during your getaway, you can book in with the on site beauty therapist for a relaxing massage, manicure and for other various spa treatments. There really is something for everyone here, but if you do prefer just simply relaxing in your serene sanctuary, we wouldn't blame you!
Located in the historical hamlet of Compton, you're just a short walk away from the National Trust's Compton Castle, a dramatic fortified manor house with a small formal garden. Further afield, there's also the National Trust's Coleton Fishacre, a 1920s arts-and-crafts-style country retreat and Greenway, the summer home of murder mystery writer Agatha Christie.
For keen walkers, there's Cockington Country Park and Mancombe Woods, which are beautiful spots for a day of rambling. If you fancy a trip into town, you're only a 30 minute drive from Totnes, Paignton and Torquay, as well as their glorious beaches. Or for those after some good food, we'd recommend a trip to Riverford Field Kitchen, renowned for their sustainable approach to seasonal feasting.
