Renowned as home to the largest sailing regatta in the world, Cowes is a pretty seaport town on the north side of the Isle of Wight, with fabulous views over the Solent and a great selection of quirky cafes, shops and restaurants. Leeway House is a contemporary three-storey Victorian house, ideally located just a short walk away from Cowes high street and perfectly placed for either a family holiday or for a group of friends looking for the perfect island getaway.
From the moment you arrive at Leeway House you will be wowed by the gorgeous interiors. Cleverly created with a subtle nod to the nautical world, where even the longitude and latitude of the house are on the wall, the hallway welcomes you into the fabulous ground floor. The sitting-room is an oasis of peace and tranquility with gorgeous comfy sofas and a wood-burner to warm chillier evenings. The kitchen/diner combines traditional furnishings with sleek design and a super sociable space to gather everyone around to chat about the adventures of the day. A separate pantry is home to a large drinks fridge and there's also a handy utility-room with washing machine, tumble-drier, WC and basin.
Climb the stairs where the family bathroom can be found on the half-landing. This gorgeous bathroom has a fabulous roll-top bath, the ideal place for a long soak after a busy day of exploring. Delightful bedroom one has a super comfy king-size bed, ornamental feature fireplace and beautiful traditional furniture. You can even catch glimpses of the sea as you wake in bed. Bedroom two has a feature iron bedstead, lovely linens to ensure a great night's sleep and a convenient en suite shower-room, all housed beneath double height ceilings.
Another staircase leads to the second floor where bedrooms three and four await, beautifully furnished with pretty linens. Bedroom three has a king-size double bed and feature ornamental fireplace whilst bedroom four is a spacious room, furnished with pops of vibrant colour and eclectic furniture. This room also has a gorgeous en suite shower-room.
The secluded rear garden at Leeway House is accessed via the dining area on the ground floor so you can choose to eat inside or outside depending on the weather. A large, decked area provides the perfect spot for al fresco dining and down four steps you will find a corner seating area with a nautical vibe. The garden also has a grassed area at the rear of the garden for the family dog to explore. Leeway House is a gorgeous abode with all the ingredients for an idyllic island escape.
Cowes is a fabulous place for an island getaway and perfect if you are looking for a car-free holiday. Just hop on the passenger ferry from Southampton and in half an hour you can be arriving at the harbourside. Cowes is a magical place to watch the yachts sail across the Solent and you can sit on the seafront, ice cream in hand and admiring the view for hours. If the chef fancies a night off, try one of many restaurants, cafes and bars, all within easy walking distance.
