Today, artists' studios can still be found here alongside the magnificent Tate Gallery overlooking Porthmeor beach (try the cafe for the view) and the Barbara Hepworth Museum. A short stroll from Arcus you will discover cobbled streets and an eclectic mix of boutiques and galleries alongside a great choice of restaurants serving the freshest of local Cornish seafood.
Water sports lovers should head for Porthmeor beach where surfers make the most of the Atlantic rollers or perhaps the gentler waters of Porthminster where families can spend blissful days building sandcastles and paddling. Porthgwidden is a glorious beach hidden in-between the two main beaches and the beachside cafe here is well worth a visit (book ahead during summer months as it's a popular spot). Boat trips from the harbourside bring endless summer fun and this is a great spot to sit and watch the water world go by.
With all you need on your doorstep you may never need your car, but if you do decide to travel further afield head for the south coast and iconic St Michael's Mount where you can stroll along the causeway to the mythical castle at low tide and catch a ferryboat when the tide is high. The Minack Theatre offers great theatrical entertainment in the most impressive of settings or maybe pull on your walking boots for a trek along the coast path and discover the many hidden coves and inlets alongside pretty fishing villages and sandy beaches.
