TwinRolling Somerset hills, a tranquil setting and a beautiful holiday cottage - what more could you ask for? Nestled close to the Quantock Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, The Stables is one of two cottages tucked away in a fabulously secluded location. Coursley Farm is really quite a magical setting and there are a number of glorious walks right from the doorstep. At night all will fall silent, apart from the snuffling of wildlife, and be sure to do a bit of star gazing as the lack of light pollution makes for a special display.
In the open plan living area there is space for everyone, and the excellently equipped kitchen will keep the chef of the family happy. Summer evenings can be spent on your private patio that has uninterrupted countryside views; what a spot to enjoy a glass of fizz. Beyond your patio and cottage, there is plenty of land, belonging to the owners, which you are most welcome to explore, or have a picnic in. Super-comfy beds await you in the two upstairs bedrooms and with two bathrooms, there will be no queues in the morning.
For groups of up to eight guests, there is the option of booking both The Stables and Meadow View (4613) together. The properties are attached to each other, but both remain private with separate entrances and secluded, individual patios. The friendly owners live in the nearby farmhouse but will be sure not to disturb your well-deserved break.
Should you be able to tear yourself away from this tranquil spot then there is plenty to see and do nearby. The Quantocks are adorned with footpaths and bridleways, as well as a plethora of areas to mountain bike. The views throughout these 9,500 acres of woodland and moorland are stunning and on a clear day you can see right across the Bristol Channel to the hills of south Wales in one direction and across the Vale of Taunton towards Exmoor National Park in the other.
The West Somerset Steam Railway is sure to delight children and adults alike and the station at Bishops Lydeard is just six miles away. If you are looking to get your toes sandy then head to Blue Anchor beach (less than 30 minutes in the car) and be sure to stop off via Dunster, a medieval Exmoor village with imposing National Trust castle.
The Stables is simply in an excellent location and returning back to this gorgeous cottage each day will be the cherry on the top of your Somerset holiday.
