The Stables at Wreath Farm is a beautifully converted single-storey farm building in the gentle south Somerset countryside, an easy drive inland from the gorgeous east Devon and west Dorset Jurassic Coast.
Lyme Regis, just 10 miles to the south, is at the heart of this coastline with its wonderful sandy beach and the famous Cobb harbour wall but there are many other lovely seaside villages and towns to visit all along this stretch of the South West Coast Path.
The open plan living accommodation has full height ceilings and flagstone flooring. A very high quality fitted kitchen provides all the facilities and equipment that you could need and the comfy L-shaped sofa separates the living area from the rest of the room. There are two lovely spacious bedrooms, each with its own wet-room style shower.
French windows open out onto the patio and a path then leads up to the enclosed lawned garden which has open fields beyond it.
This fully independent wing to the main farmhouse is presented to a very high standard and has some excellent features for any guests with mobility issues, such as a gentle slope to the front door, a wide corridor linking the bedrooms with the living area and the two spacious wet-rooms.
Whilst The Stables is totally separate and private, it is possible to integrate this lovely accommodation for four with the farmhouse, which sleeps eight, for large family groups.
A state of the art, sustainable bio mass heating system – with thermostatic controls in each room – is situated in a large room between The Stables and Wreath Farmhouse (4445) and so you might just hear the wood pellets passing from the hopper to the boiler twice a day. This environmentally-friendly system ensures that the cottage is super snug and cosy.
Across the farmyard there are two other barn conversions, The Apple Press (4744) and The Cow Shed - both of which have their own parking and outside space. All of the properties - and their guests - have a good degree of privacy from each other. The owners will sometimes be staying in one of the other properties at the farmstead.
A dog is welcome at this property and the fully enclosed garden means you will be able to relax. The lane leading to the farmstead is very quiet with just a few other properties dotted along it and is lovely to stroll along. Just half a mile away is the Chard Nature Reserve with some lovely walks and in the other direction at Cricket St Thomas where there are beautiful lakeside walks around the old manor house, which is now an hotel.
As you enter Chard there is a dedicated cycle trail all the way to the little market town of Ilminster which is another lovely route for walking too. Crewkerne is the third of this trio of nearby market towns, offering plenty of antiques shops and an antiques emporium to browse in. All are well served by supermarkets if you require a food delivery but we love to recommend the local produce markets and farm shops. The Barley Mow Farm Shop is just on the far outskirts of Chard and it has a lovely cafe for breakfast and lunch as well as the fresh produce shop. Ilminster, Crewkerne and Axminster have weekly farmers markets.

There is a really well-equipped fitted kitchen. French doors take you out onto your patio and to your own private garden overlooking fields.
