Bunk-bedsWelcome to Primrose Cottage, a charming Victorian Cottage, perfectly situated just off the green in the delightful village of St Helens where the local amenities are a short stroll away and the picturesque beach a mere 20 minute walk through beautiful countryside. Primrose Cottage is an ideal base for family holidays or friends looking for an island retreat.
St Helens is a very special place for a holiday and from the moment you arrive here you will relax into island life. The sitting-room is elegantly decorated in blue and grey hues with a super comfy sofa to chill in front of the TV or perhaps listen to music on the Sonos. Bi-fold doors lead out into the pretty rear garden, perfect for those warm, sunny island days. The sleek kitchen/diner has been beautifully crafted and has all you need to create a holiday meal, including the all-important dishwasher. There's even a Nespresso machine for your freshly brewed morning coffee. This inviting space has a dining-table, the ideal place to gather everyone around the table to plan the adventures of the day.
Bedroom one can be found on the ground floor, a pretty twin bedroom perfect for either children or adults. A handy cloakroom with WC and washbasin is also on the ground floor. Climb the stairs to the first floor and two further bedrooms await, a lovely double room with king-size bed and a bunk bedroom which the children in the party will love. The family bathroom with roll-top bath and open rainfall shower is also on the first floor so you can choose either a long soak or a refreshing shower.
The rear garden at Primrose Cottage is a delight, an oasis of peace and tranquillity with mature shrubs and trees. Sit on a sun-lounger and relax with a good book, or perhaps enjoy al fresco dining on the covered deck area. Welcome to your holiday haven.
The Isle of Wight is a magical place for a holiday and from the moment you step onto the ferry across the Solent your adventure will begin. St Helens is a pretty village on the eastern side of the island with all you need virtually on the doorstep. There's a popular village pub, The Vine which overlooks the village green, a well-stocked village shop for all your holiday essentials and several restaurants, all just a hop, skip and a jump away. A footpath leads through pretty woodland from the village to St Helens Duver and the beach, about a twenty minute stroll away where you will find the Bay Watch Cafe overlooking a long sand and shingle beach. This sheltered cove adjoins Bembridge harbour and is popular with paddle boarders, kayakers and swimmers. For the less energetic, just sit back and enjoy the view over the Solent, perfect!
You may decide to leave the car at Primrose Cottage and enjoy a car-free holiday, but if you do decide to travel further afield the delights of the island are never far away. Visit Bembridge, the adjoining village and see the last remaining windmill on the island. Whilst you are there take a look at the lifeboat station, it is really quite spectacular. Bembridge has a plethora of local shops so stock up at the bakery, fishmonger and Woodfords butchers, renowned for top quality meats. Travel to west Wight along Military Road and enjoy spectacular views across the ocean. Freshwater Bay is a gorgeous, sheltered cove with crystal clear waters and dramatic cliffs. Whilst you are here visit the iconic Needles and for a close-up view take the chairlift and a speed boat from the beach. However you plan to spend your idyllic island days, Primrose Cottage is perfectly placed for all your island adventures.
