Mevagissey / Sleeps 8 + cot*

7 Nights from £852 - £2583

If you love luxury, space and gorgeous interiors, Skysail is the place for you. Providing everything you need for a wonderful holiday there are four ground floor bedrooms, a fabulous open plan first floor living-room with panoramic sea views, outdoor seating and dining areas and a large enclosed garden with lawns and patios. This is the perfect ‘get-together’ house, ideal for families or groups of friends. Skysail has private parking, a games-room with table-tennis, darts, books and games, outdoor sofas, sun loungers and a barbecue. Mevagissey is five minutes’ walk downhill, a quintessential Cornish fishing village with trawlers, dinghies and yachts in the harbour and tea rooms, ancient pubs, inviting shops and terraced cottages crowding the narrow streets. There is a small harbourside beach at low tide, with beaches at Portmellon and Gorran Haven just minutes away by car. The Lost Gardens of Heligan lie on the outskirts of the village, a delight to explore and with a renowned local farm shop right next to the car park selling wonderful local produce, perfect for cooking up delicious holiday meals to linger over at leisure while taking in the superb views all along the coast.

This outstanding contemporary detached house offers the utmost in holiday accommodation. Luxuriously furnished and beautifully decorated throughout, there is under-floor heating (powered by an energy efficient air-source heat pump), marble and travertine flooring. There are two bedrooms either side of the spacious, light-filled entrance hall, all with ‘zip and link’ (super-king double or twin) beds offering flexible accommodation. Each pair of bedrooms shares a bathroom or shower-room, both with large walk-in showers and monsoon showerheads and one with a double-ended bath. Top quality mattresses, duck down duvets and Egyptian cotton bed linen will have you sleeping like babies from the very first night. An oak and glass staircase leads to the first floor which has a tucked away cloakroom and massive open plan living-room with windows framing the panoramic coastal views. The sitting-area has a wood-burner, a 50" HD Smart television with Apple television and BT Sports, and a laptop for holiday use as well. The kitchen-area is fully equipped, right down to the warming drawer and espresso coffee machine. There is a big island unit with a funky extractor fan over the hob and plenty of space for casual meals, helping with food prep or sitting to chat and share a glass of wine with the chef. Doors on one side lead out to the back garden and rear patio – with a huge outdoor sofa and chairs, barbecue and dining-table – while a second set of doors lead out to the big glass-sided balcony at the front of the house, perfect for breakfast and morning coffee. The formal dining-area sits before a bank of windows which showcase panoramic views stretching from Chapel Point in the west along the coast as far as Devon on a clear day. With lights hanging low over a long dining-table, this is the place to gather and enjoy leisurely meals while the sun glistens on the sea during the day and lights twinkle from the harbourside cottages at night. Steps lead down from the house to the garage where a games-room has been created with table-tennis, dart board, chairs for spectators and books and games to keep everyone occupied. The walk down to Mevagissey is picturesque, through public gardens overlooking the sheltered harbour down below (the walk back is slightly more strenuous!) where pubs, cafes and tea rooms, bakeries selling pasties and shops of all sorts are waiting to be explored. The Eden Project, the pretty sailing town of Fowey and the historic port of Charlestown – with tall ships moored in the tiny harbour – are all within a half hour drive, while the magnificent cliffs and surfing beaches of the north coast are just a little further away.
