If you want to truly get away from it all, this is the place to choose. Within moments you can be on open moorland – you don’t even have to get in the car. For provisions you can use the local village shop which is very well-stocked – they will even arrange an advance for you – and there is a lovely seasonal tea shop too for a treat if you decide to walk down from the cottage. A bit further afield is the lovely market town of Dulverton – a bustling little place with plenty of shops, cafes and places to eat. Towards the coast you will find the medieval town of Dunster with its National Trust castle, or take an adventurous route towards Porlock where Exmoor meets the sea.
