As a general overview, we loved the cottage and its enormous garden, loved Tealby, loved the local pub, loved the local bitter (Tealby Tipple), loved our long country walks and loved the friendly, helpful people we met. We saw our hosts only a couple of times, starting with the arrival, when I had to impolitely rap on their front window because I’d got mixed up with the gate code and the key box code. Lynn, despite our interruption to their evening, was a great help, good-humoured and welcoming. But we never did get the hang of the gate code mechanism and eventually had to give up on it, just using the latch when we went out. I’d suggest a simple second lock and key for the gate, but maybe other visitors are defter with their digits. The cottage is compact but cosy and the only trauma for my (Italian) wife was the lack of a proper chest of drawers and wardrobe, but of course the crafty under-the-stairs system and wall-hung hangers were enough in the end. We’d arrived later than expected, and the welcome supply of plum loaf, chocolate biscuits, milk, cheese and coffee came in very useful for breakfast next morning. We also used the wonderful volunteer-run local shop quite a lot, which is just along the road, and has a good variety of things, sandwiches, biscuits, jams, papers (more plum loaf, yaaaay) but no fresh fruit. They also sell some useful walking maps of the area. The pub is also just a short walk way and we used it as often as possible – good food, lovely staff, and a great place to end the day. I can’t imagine anyone else going there, as we did, without a car, but if you happen to require a taxi Dave Robinson’s Tealby Taxis is a friendly and reliable service and there is also a sort of local bustaxi system called CallConnect which can be used if you can access a UK phone number; they can’t contact you on a foreign number, unfortunately, which is a bit limiting for tourists. We were amazingly lucky with the weather and spent most of our time on the well-signposted Viking Way and other paths but we also went to Market Rasen and Louth (which, like a lot of UK towns, seem to be struggling a bit at the moment) and of course Lincoln, which has a beautiful centre. We did a three-hour tour with a local lass (payment by tip) and it was good fun and informative. Tealby itself is a lovely place to stay, though we were rather surprised it was more of an enclave for wealthy southerners than a proper Lincoln village, a bit like the Cotswolds. But everyone was so quick with a sociable greeting and a chat that we really felt at home for the whole week. For some reason, I’d packed a torch this trip, which came in useful at night, when there is no street lighting; there’s also a torch to use provided by the hosts. Nights are marvellously silent, except for the occasional ghostly owl. ...

My Wife & I spent 3 Nights at Pheasant Cottage, which we enjoyed immensely. The cottage was very clean & very well equipped for our stay . Tealby is a very charming village which we loved walking in & around, stopping off at the Kings Arms for a drink, also had dinner there one night & the food was excellent. We would definitely recommend the cottage for anyone that wants a quiet relaxing stay in a typical English village....

Pheasant Cottage was spotless, well appointed and everything we could want in a cosy cottage. The location was excellent for walking in the area, a visit to Lincoln and a friendly village pub that was open 7 days a week. Our hosts - Lynn and Phil - gave us some suggestions and we could not have had a better week. Thank you and we'll be back!...
